Now we set for 1mil extension over 2-3 years that's what Tohu will get that's how the prices and salaries are moving atm

That's not the way I interpreted that. I read it as "Money can't go backwards" within the same contract. So his current contract ends at the end of 2024. The extension to 2025/2026 is effectively the start of a new contract. So as long as the money he's on in 2025 is the same as 2026, then it doesn't matter if in those years he's earning 500K, 800K or 1m per year.

100%
Just look at Reynolds at the Broncos willing to drop his price so they can keep Walsh and Ezra mam

According to News Corp, Reynolds is even willing to take a pay cut on his current $800,000 salary in order to help the club lock in young backline stars Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam

Oh okay that sounds great maybe what 700k 1 year 700k 2 year 3 year 700k 2.1mil sound reasonably ?

Surely once you've agreed a salary for a year, you can't suddenly front a player and say "Oki-dokes, how's 'bout we pay you 800k rather than 1m next year on the existing deal and then we'll sign you for 1.2m for the following year?"

Tohu signs for $1m for 2024.
The Warriors front him and say "Tohu, let's give you $800k for 2024, right?"
They then give him a contract for 2025 saying 1m for 2025.
Surely that can't happen - and Tohu's manager would be an idiot for letting it happen.
Surely Tohu's manager would either say "No!" or say: "Fine. But that means the old contract's over. We now need to re-negotiate for 2024 at $800k, the $1m for 2025 and the 200k that Tohu didn't get on his old contract."

We can speculate what $ would be fair when it comes to negotiations. But my opinion is, the longer the contract is, the less the $ should be. So if Tohu wants the Warriors to commit to a 3 year deal, then I'd suggest the $ would be only about 65-75% of that if he wanted a 1 year deal. But if he takes the high value 1 year deal he can back himself to sustain the quality we saw in 2023, and keep extending by 1 year at a time at a high value.

Tohu is the man but AFB is literally the most critical player on our team, followed by SJ then probably Egan THEN Tohu. We have players who can fill in at 13 with obviously a fair drop off, but we can still get around the park. We have zero players that can even remotely fill AFB's role, we're a bottom 4 team if he goes down. Very poor roster management by the team and as we've stated a hundred times, I pray there's something in the works to remedy this for 2024.

I think after this season that SJ is the most critical to the team after what he produced but AFB a close second. Interesting reading that the roosters have said that Terrell May is surplus to requirements after his late season performances, I reckon the roosters are setting up to get AFB over there for 2025. I think with AFB’s pay check that the club expects the performances he puts out but are ill equipped if he goes down injured.

Interesting seeing the potential of Toni Tupouniua coming over, was at the panthers in 2022 so Webster would have seen him first hand. The other part I’m hopeful of is that he’s apart of bringing his brother Sitili to the Warriors like JTS came over when RTS was signed years ago.
Yeah pure speculation, but you can see a world where Roosters squeeze Sitili out to upgrade May and he comes home

They’d probably rather see Angus Chrichton go and were happy for him to go to rugby but obviously fell through. Have seen around the place that he’s going back to rabbits but probably viewed as a risk after his dramas last off season, so not sure whether any clubs would take that risk.

Be interesting to see if Roosters do have to shed anyone (I know the thought is funny as they have no cap) they thought Angus was 100% gone when they signed Spencer. Apparently he is getting paid alot as well. Don’t think many/any clubs would take Angus now. Fingers crossed they need to move a decent forward on.

Also prioritised Wong and Naufahu Whyte though I think Whyte could easily be a front rower going forward, both Butcher brothers signed too. Would imagine Terrell May wants to stay in Sydney seeing the bulldogs are apparently in front for his signature but it begs the question why let such a good player go when JWH is only likely a season away from retirement with them saying he’s surplus to requirements? I get the feeling JWH has only got year extensions over the past couple of seasons because no enforcer type props were available but I really feel like they’re clearing the decks for AFB. Would love to get Sitili Tupouniua and have two physical-threatening edges with Niukore, and Tupouniua scores a lot of tries from the second row.
