Looking at the updated signings tracker on the NRL app looks like Zyon Maiu’u and Jacob Laban confirmed in the top 30. Also Tuaupiki confirmed for 2 more years and Sifakula extended by 1 year.
Interesting they debuted Going and Roache, and neither even get a development contract.

Fukofuka obviously held in higher regard long term than Roache.

Interesting Aukusitino getting a development contract, I’d rather us develop Sio Kali as our wing coming through.

Ben Farr on a development contract makes sense, has some potential if he can keep developing his playmaking and kicking.

I thought this year we lacked size and I’d have RFM on my bench in place of Jazz. If Jazz had RFM size, I reckon he’d be up there with some of the top props for his heart. He just doesn’t offer enough from the bench as a prop alone with Walker filling lock off the bench.

Why though? We can have it both ways by signing a prop. Ridiculous to just abandon 2024 when we should be even better than 2023. We need to be aiming for 2nd week of finals minimum. There's no guarantee our youth are going to turn us into some kind of powerhouse in the near future, those pathways existed previously and we did shit all with it. Just look at how we wasted SJ, very unlikely we get another talent through like him in the next 5 years+.

The club needs to figure it out. Unfortunately it looks like we don't have the money to recruit a stud, so Webby is going to have to work his magic on a has been or 2 and that's ok. What's not ok is having 1.5 props on an NRL roster, it's absolute insanity.
I like the idea. If all pieces are set in place for season 24 then go for it. But I don't see 2025 with Tohu, SJ or AFB. That's my only reasoning.

Looks like we've only got 2 roster spots left for '24 with Sifakula, Zyon Maiu’u, Laban and Leiataua all being given spots. Only 19 currently signed for '25 though so will be interesting to see who makes it and how Webby shapes this roster going forward. Feels like the club has a pretty good balance at the moment with juniors coming through and also the experienced players to teach them and keep a level head during games.

Yeah fair, I just think it's crucial we do what we can to make 24 as successful as possible as nothing's guaranteed after that. It'll also help with recruitment for 2025/2026 if we make a decent run in the finals again. The scrubs we're talking about like RFM should be pretty easy to put on a 2 year contract and not really sabotage the post Tohu/SJ era.

Fukofuka is incredibly talented from what i've seen - maybe those debuts were sort of a reward for being great team players last year, idk... also on the development contracts does that mean Halamasia is promised a full contract in 2026? How does that work?

Was surprised to see Ben Farr with a development contract, wouldn’t be surprised to see Metcalf go although Farr played most positions in the backline last year. Would imagine he’s seen as a five eighth.

That does look to be the case, good work locking him in.

Someone needs to tell half this forum that we no longer need to take the dregs. I can't believe some of the same old names that are getting thrown around for us to look at - heyzuss!!
At the same time, somebody’s trash can be somebody’s treasure sometimes. If we listened to all the noise we never would have signed Montoya or DWZ(risk was lower with bulldogs paying a portion) or Ford.
