Sooner this is introduced the better, Queen St is a disgrace. Clearly need to come up with the best possible solution, however what the current situation is definitely isn’t it!
What's the solution. Moving them on to where exactly?
All the organisation equipped to deal with them have had their funding cut.

No idea where, however they simply can’t be setting up home on Queen St, anyone walking down there would agree.
Based on my amateur diagnoses, the homelessness in Auckland CBD is a mental health and addiction issue, not necessarily homelessness per se
Absolutely it is mental illness & also it is people that have been ignored & abused their whole lives. They hang out on Queen St so they can be noticed, acknowledged by people. It’s all very very sad.

Maybe if this government hadn't shut down emergency housing eh
Maybe if there wasn’t inter-generational abuse & neglect within the ‘family’ environment more like it.

I know people that work in homeless shelters that say addiction and mental health are the issues with those still there choosing not to access housing and support even when it is available.
Emergency housing is ambulance at the bottom of the cliff vs addressing the actual underlying causes.
I’m of the view more effort needs to be put into stopping people from getting there in the first place. It starts with fixing the parts of society that lead to these outcomes. And it will only come from society itself rather than government.
