Being it was one point brought up on the agenda, I guess as people teaching there could be an understanding of what they are supposed to be teaching geographically wise being that the place in question is unrecognised? The union leader mentions it was one topic and government says it was the main topic, watching q and a this morning the union representative mentioned there is a feeling of division trying to be achieved
The correct answer is it doesn't. The fact it is even in the negotiations is concerning.

No that’s your correct answer, I guess we won’t know since it didn’t go ahead with Stanford having parliamentary obligations
No, its just the correct answer. The fact it was even part of a negotiation around pay and working conditions for NZ teachers is of huge concern. Just as the violence in Nigeria, Trade negotiations or the plight of the Javan Rhino shouldn't be part of them.

I really don’t think so being that we need an understanding of our stance towards Palestine being that we were always on opposite sides of the table to where we now sit and could understand them wanting clarification on what they are encouraged to educate around the whole conflict and how it’s come to be. Just my view anyway

Well, that would form part of a curriculum discussion set by the Ministry of Education. Not relevant to pay and working conditions negotiation.

Helen Andrews just gave a speech thats now an essay that explains whats happening. A lot of commentary happening..

Geography is and whether you recognise that a place exists with us leaning towards it not
Regardless of yours or mine or individual teachers views on Palestine, it's a completely separate issue and one that is not relevant to pay and working conditions. Just as a number of other issues shouldn't be included and become part of a collective agreement on pay and working conditions.
