General NSW Cup 2025

Emphatic way to finish an outstanding season.

If I was a club like the Dolphins I would do everything in my power to get the QRL to commit to a genuine reserve grade comp across both states. If Burleigh are truely the best side in the state then the pathway for juniors is seriously flawed

I think the pathway for juniors for qld is fine. Its just more spread out its a genuine second division comp instead of reserve grade.

That being said this is a blow out almost every year so maybe an all stars game against the nsw cup winner? They do finish their season a week earlier so would atleast give them a week to train.

That's the only time you will ever see the NRL bosses and refs etc wanting to see the Warriors win a game! imagine a team from the Queensland comp beat the team from the NSW comp on NRL finals day lol

You should check to see how many nsw teams are playing on grand final day to test your theory. And even if that theory had any substance, qld origin team would never be the dominant state in soo history.

Sometimes we overlook our own weaknesses and look for excuses/conspiracy theories to justify why we lose. Whatever makes ppl feel better about themselves i guess.

Ben Ikin was pushing against it so it'll be an uphill battle of the QRL CEO isn't on board.

This is from 2023 so his stance may have changed,

Ikin stated the Broncos' position was "to continue with the status quo,” and expressed concerns that the introduction of an reserve grade could potentially damage the top-grade competition.

"It will narrow and weaken the pathway, which will eventually weaken the elite game," Ikin told the Courier-Mail.

I probably agree with him too. We see it here with our first XV system continually getting more and more concentrated around a few elite schools. All it's done is shrink the talent base and make a lot of kids look way better than they are.

I understood that's what V'Landys is planning, but you have to overcome the NSWRL and QRL too - always defending their patch - difficult on a good day to say the least

What a fabulous performance especially after the effort last week. Watching that and if we keep the best, our future is secure.
Little something I noticed is that all the forwards (except Bunty) were putting a little footwork on at the line.

Healey need to learn to pass from the ruck instead of taking a big step and a windup. Getting his body behind the ball will help.

David T is a coach to keep an eye on, he has this side humming
