So you don't care how national perform because they're better than labour aye? Just because the bar is low doesn't mean we should accept poor performance.
Where did I say I don’t care? Of course I care, however there is an attempt on here by someone to present data on the current coalition’s performance that is completely out of context relative to the performance of their predecessors… and then you seem happy to accept this false representation of the data. Also I’m not a fan of any of them, National, Labour or the alternatives that sit further left or right of centre. They’re all just various versions of incompetent.

How is that any different from you saying that because I want this government to do better I am proposing we put labor back in?

It's not, he tried to strawman you, the first retort of a scoundrel and self confessed Guns & Roses fan.

Actually my main point is someone was posting out-of-context data that others were too accepting of. Some context - the previous government were highly irresponsible with their spending, and when an economy is on a downward trend it can’t just immediately pivot positive, it’s like an oil tanker, it takes time to turn around. Current mob are pretty ordinary but nowhere near as bad as Labour. Anyway I’m on holiday so not sure why I’m even posting on the topic presently šŸ˜›

My comment referenced the continued growth of the debt under national. That's not out of context data, it's fact, how can you think that's not true? Even national admit it.
I know it's going to hurt but I want us to live within our means and not be borrowing more every year. Whatever part is in.

Unless they can show with data that's factual, available and believable that the debt is being invested for provable(within reason) future growth.

Countercyclical policy is used by governments and central banks, working against the ups and down of the economic cycle.

When the economy is booming we reduce inflation, prevent bubbles by raising interest rates, cutting government spending, or increasing taxes. In 2021 with the debt fuelled boom, the reserve bank increased interest rates but the govt worked against it ramping up spending and overheating the economy.

When the economy is in recession (past 2 years) policy aims to stimulate the economy by lowering interest rates, increasing government spending, or cutting taxes. This is what the govt has correctly been doing, working together with the reserve bank.

This is Keynesian economics at work (which @MaybeTop8 is so fond of). Pity Labour stuffed it and us up by ramping up massive spending when the times were good amplifying the boom and subsequent bust were all paying for now.

This is painful and unpopular (as we’re seeing now) but what needs to happen. It’s why the reserve bank is independent of the govt, to make the unpopular short term pain for long term gain calls, which populist govts won’t make those calls on their own.

Again I didn’t say debt hasn’t increased under National, however did you expect an immediate reversal of the trend in year 1? No of course not. Then did it increase significantly less in year 2 of their term? Yes it did. In an absolute sense are they ordinary - yes. Relative to Labour are they doing better? Yes. Given I’m on a beach right now with a drink in hand, should I care about any of this? Absolutely not, however I’m addicted to this forum!

This government was always about privatisation and enhancing the already wealthy. That's who they are. That's the right. That's who they are.

How was I able to say this accurately all along for the last two years? Insanity? You might argue that. Prescience? Soothsaying? Probably not.

Nope, the reason I was always so certain about what these ideological hard right parties were going to do, IS BECAUSE THAT'S WHO THEY ARE. THIS IS THE RIGHT. THIS IS NEOLIBERALISM

Utterly dogmatic and hidebound. Ideological and greedy.

They've done it before. They'll keep doing it. Their masters and benefactors write the scripts. THIS IS THE RIGHT. THIS IS WHO THEY ARE.

At least they're predictable. An utter failure for all new zealand apart from their wealthy mates.

Here’s a list of all the things this supposedly ā€˜far right’ govt has privatised:

Prove me wrong or maybe stop believing your lefty propaganda… šŸ˜‰

Nice try at deflecting. This government are a disaster. They have wrecked the economy. It's embarrassing and destructive for ordinary new zealanders.
Deflection??? You haven’t addressed the lack of ANY privatisation, despite your continued misinformation posts claiming it’s their goal!

And you can’t help but be distracted by this shambles… lucky for Chloe!

Golriz Ghahraman - shoplifting & resignation

Darleen Tana - migrant exploitation claims and expulsion

Julie Anne Genter — conduct with business owners and contempt of Parliament

Marama Davidson’s breast cancer diagnosis and 6 month leave.

Elizabeth Kerekere - Accused of ā€œbullyingā€ behaviour and resigned

James Shaw - resigned as co-leader and left Parliament.

Efeso Collins - passed away while a sitting MP

Ben Doyle - Bussy episode and resignation

Chief of Staff: Eliza Prestidge-Oldfield resignation

It’s like a soap opera, who’s next?

They're privatising health as we speak. Already made moves on Education.

Slashing and burning all areas of government, ready for the fire sale.

This isn't new, it's been done three times already.

And the people of New Zealand suffer.
