First 10mins there was a sense of urgency .. then they went to full conservative mode not wanting to put pressure or make mistakes.. it wasnt until the last 10mins when they started to get desparate, took risks and tried to open the game up and make something happen... they should have played with that level of intensity for the full 80mins

its a flawed game plan for this end of the season with finals a month away... coach needs to own this
Yep he does, as a long term fan though I'm just happy with where we're at, the start of the season i didnt expect us to make the top 10 with this squad.
I get the frustration though as we want to demand excellence like storm/penrith but we just aren't there yet.
there some very big sinkholes that are just too deep and obvious that we are going to start sliding down the ladder.

understand where you're coming from, its like dammed if you do dammed if you don't, unfortunately we lost, and don't think there was anything anyone could've done, we just have to suck it up, don't like the losses but love the team!! on this crazy roller coaster for life!

Foran himself identified one!

It all starts with Marata’s lack of mobility on that edge. He’s a terrible defender who can’t slide out at all.
Marata a prop at best bench impact swap with Bunty 20mins each half ...when will Webby start playing players in the correct position ..FORD as prop NOPE he's a tackle bot but doesn't bend the line ,,,he's a great second phase off the shoulder type player can play a fast ball etc ..but still limited mins ..
TSS showed he's not FG material ..really the TITs forwards dominated our lot ...FISH + young guns + Clark ...and Marata 2-3 times a game usually against the backs only forwards than seem to be able to bend the line ....the rest not much impact

This is true. The top teams don't take the foot of the gas, we never step on it.

Everyone seems to want to fire DWZ into the sun.

But go have a look at the highlights and see where Capewell is in those two walk over trys. DWZ wasn't even given a fair chance to make the right decision on either.
Dont get me started on Capewell

He was a great stop-gap but to have him as a regular with DWZ outside him is just plain stupid

You know why its stupid right?

Because every good coach will now have a game plan to exploit these two together.

God help me if Capewell and DWZ are paired again this weekend.

Didn’t realise we had so many NRL coaches on this board!!!
The forum doesn't exist if people aren't here giving their opinions whether good or bad.

It's a niche part tucked away on the internet, not out in the open like other forms of social media where the players etc. would see it.

The mods do a good job of not letting it slide into gutter talk, so there's really no harm.

Those things do not necessarily also mean less of the latter? But I'm still a bit confused on which players he's made worse once they've got into FG.
Some quick examples of players who seemed to have retained that 'spark' under Webster to go after attack (offlads, LBs, support play etc). who he has selected just this year and stuck in his 17.

1. Vaimauga never told to put away offloading. Source on why.
SJ: "I feel like you change the game with your late offloading. What's the licensing around it? What's been said? Has there been some hard words or has it been 'you knock the front door down, back the skill'?"
Vaimauga: "He's said to the group he's not gonna stop us from offloading. Like, it's got to be measured obviously... They've given me the green light."

2. Metcalf never told to kill his "non-traditional" attack style. Source on why.
Sterlo: "Webby mentioned pre-game that the attack might look very different this year. Is that just a way of keeping your running game? I imagine if you were that 7, it'd possibly go away?"
Metcalf: "I think it's grown into being a part of the role. And it's something I never want to lose."

3. Leka hasn't been told to ease back.

I just don't really get the idea that Webster is currently trying to make players play differently to how they did in NSW Cup or in other teams.
So, I'm unsure where this assumption that Webster is going to pigeon-hole Healey into as generic a hooker as possible is coming from, or the idea that he sets up players to fail or that he is hurting their development.

On the other hand, I do fully understand the outrage/criticism/exhaustion at his picks of players above some others (e.g., CNK > TT). But I don't think he's saying to TT, "You need to be more like CNK to be picked ahead of him," fucking up TT's development. It sounds more like he's saying: "We've picked CNK in the preseason, our gameplan involves a player like him, and we're going to stick to it. You need to keep being TT, you'll be second pick. Be ready to be the best TT when it's your time." Now, I think it's a totally fair debate: How many injuries/losses does it take before the coach has to change the original gameplan to let the more inexperienced (i'd somewhat argue better) players ahead of these older, broken players?
How many sets yesterday did we actually promote the footy — offer an offload or shift it two or three passes wide? Coming out of our own end was completely predictable, zero risk, nothing creative.

“Measured” was the word thrown around in that interview — but let’s be real, we only started playing with any freedom once we were chasing the game. I get that it’s the coach’s preferred style, and that’s fine, but you keep circling back to my comments like I’m missing something. All good.

If I’m the opposition coach, it’s simple: jam in defensively, force the conservative grind, then roll through the middle — especially with Barney out. If that doesn’t work, shift to their right edge — it’s one of the weakest in the comp.

And honestly, how many NSW Cup games have you actually watched this season?

Anyway, I’ll agree to disagree. I have nothing further to say.

To look at the stats, a few things stand out to me. Completion rate, kick metres and errors. To reflect on it now I think we were just outplayed by a team better on the day and you only need to be a little bit off. Titans played well completing at 90% and they exploited a weakness we currently have. Stats can be deceiving too with DWZ tackling at 100%, but that’s because he was completely caught out and didn’t even get a hand to miss the tackle. I can’t see any change because I don’t see anyone banging the door down and injuries in the centres are hurting. I definitely think it’s fixable but the right edge is going to get a lot of attention in the coming weeks. A real wake up call hopefully

The pre-game interviews with the coaches were prescient - Des is treated as a bit of a joke but that's become his superpower: how do you coach 500 games and still go under the radar? - you have a little chat with the the game day officials and say 'yeah, we're going to play it fast and clean around the ruck, would expect the other team to do this too' -I know everyone who's said anything about this has covered it already but it's true, we were out-lead by Foran getting in the ear of Sutton reiterating the message, and delivered what they said they would: high-completion, kick to the corner - subtle as a holden commodore - and we were done.

Anyone know if Vaimauga pulled up ok? For me, that was my biggest concern when he went down over any loss or right edge deficienc

NSW Cup — 14 wins in a row and a 68–6 demolition. If that’s not banging the selection door down, I don’t know what is.

The onus is on the coach now. He continues to pick out-of-form, experienced players and has twice named an injured back-rower at centre. That’s on him.

He made the CNK bed — now he either needs to put on the big-boy pants and do what’s best for the team, or go down with the ship. I won’t call him weak — I genuinely respect the bloke — but I do think he’s too stubborn to make the tough calls right now.

And yeah, I know I can sound like an asshole — but like they say, we’ve all got one, and we all act like one at times. I’m just voicing my opinion. Others are welcome to disagree.

P.S. I’m old school — the only stat I care about is the one in the W column. I also need to move on and apologies to anyone I’m offending, Dry July is a fucking punish and a half!

It’s either this or the poor dog gets a kicking!

Only one that can feel hard done by on selection is Tuaupiki in my view
