I'd agree that Boyd has not shown himself to reliably handle those game winning situations. But that's not to say he hasn't before. One to forget was him winning in golden point against us in 2022. But that was a while ago before des became the titans coach.

But I'm gonna stick to the narrative that if you were in a team where a bad day meant you are out of the squad then you're giving your players the yips. And in the same way I think it was taught to him, I think it can be taught out.
Im backing Boyd 100%, but outside of that game against us, neither he nor the Titans were good at closing out games.

Boyd is a solid, reliable playmaker, but he does have issues under pressure. My hope is that webby and co can help him overcome that.

Yeah, he's not clutch at the moment. But, I'd argue that he's a bit better at bread and butter playmaker stuff than LM.

Example: DWZ shanked three perfectly placed 'Bomb to Manu' type kicks in the corner on the weekend. If we have a half decent winger on the recieving end of those, we are sitting pretty and not being so critical on him.

Tanahs kicking game, up until the requirement to clutch, was not bad (my opinion) - given that the rest of the team was playing on the back foot after that collection of negative calls/no try.

How many players have kicked more than 1 drop goal in a Warriors jersey?
The answer is 4: Ngamu (3), Maloney (7), Jones (14), Johnson (17).

Boyd kicked 3 in his last 3 seasons with the Titans, and has kicked one in the NSW Cup this season.
I was a bit surprised he didn't get the job done against the Knights (especially the penalty), as I thought it might be one of the skills he brings.
The silver lining was we got the Leka try highlight and the win. I'd back Boyd in the same situation next time.

It seems like the missed kicks have taken some heat of DWZ, who just had a shocker all over the park. He's really not having a good season, I hope he can turn it around before the end of the year, otherwise the coaches need to seriously consider leaving him out. I'd be all for Taine and CNK in over Dallin at this stage but I've never seen Webster drop a senior player on form rather than injury.

In the moment, I thought this was close to our worst performance this year (barring Vegas) even though we won. But having rewatched that game, I actually thought it wasn't that bad. Things always get clouded by emotions on game day, especially given what was at stake if we lost that game.

For long periods, we did execute our gameplan quite well. For the first 20 minutes and for most of the 2nd half, we were winning the collisions in the ruck and pinning the Knights into their corners. Had it not been for that dreadful Egan no try call, that early dominance would have converted into a 12-0 advantage. We were rolling through their middle at that pt, so under that counterfactual we probably go on to a dominant victory. Unfortunately for us that no try call changed the entire trajectory of the game.

Obviously our discipline was uncharasterically off. Two errors led directly to two of their tries- DWZ's roll ball and Ford's drop ball. We probably should have challenged the Ford drop ball as it was clearly stripped out. But Webby has clearly instructed the team to not risk challenges in the first half. Turns out it came in handy at the end of the game, ensuring that we maintained possession until the final whistle.

As for the defensive breakdown on the right edge, I have a suspicion that Capewell was carrying an injury into this game. Normally he gets right into the face of the opposing centre. But in this game, he seemed a little passive and slow to get back into line which might explain why DWZ was jamming in harder than usual to help him out.

All in all, the main problems from the game seem eminently fixable and I'm sure Webby is on top of it. I'm a little less concerned about that performance after rewatching the whole game.

Thought the second half was very good other than Boyd's meltdown, direct and ran over them, fixed the edge too. Just need to do it for 80. Little concerning as this would be the 2nd messy 1st half in 3 games? The ref did wrestle the momentum for them too

That’s how I saw it watching the replay sober. I hate Friday night games when I have to referee on Saturdays so yay for Sundays.
TT contributes more overall impact than CNK, speed helps, he is footy smart, he gets his smaller frame through tackles and gets to the ground more than he should.
And his communication to other defenders when Knight carved up our right side and his try saving tackles were astounding.
Pompey just a rock both sides of the ball.
Boyd decent control of the game.
Clark same old.
Demi is a beast.
Laban will be next to do something next level.
Ford is becoming top drawer.
He has become quite the hard man to tackle and his defence and dirty work unrelenting.

Dont know why but Broncos / Warriors game from earlier this season at MSS showed up on my feed...

Kosi on the right wing... get stood up out wide and then fumbling the ball in the in goal to give away tries...
Geezus i dont know what is with our right wing side.....
Who is worse DWZ or Kosi????? Difficult question to answer.

Leka's brilliance is purely instinctive. You can't coach that. Look closely at that remarkable try: first up, he consciously took a step backwards just before Boyd attempted the field goal to ensure he was onside. Just in case. Just in case what? Boyd was going to have to thump that ball to get it anywhere near the posts from 40+ metres out. The chances of Leka getting his hands on it were negligible. But he corrected his positioning, in a split second, just in case. Then when the ball did, incredibly, spiral across the field in his direction, Leka snatched it from behind himself, thus swinging the momentum back in his direction and allowing him to take off at high speed. Again, pure instinct. Finally, when he set off, he didn't once look to pass. Didn't check to see if anyone was even nearby. He just knew - somehow - that he was going to get there. And that, again, is pure instinct meshed with raw potential at its highest level. What a freakish talent.

Let’s not leave out the instinctive run I itself. It wasn’t actually a straight line. He swerved in wards then outwards just enough to fool Gagai and charge over the line. Diving low about 2m from the line so momentum carried him over was again pure instinct. Coaches should be writing books about this try. He did everything right. Literally.

I was impressed how he had to lean backwards and low to grab the ball and in the same motion went straight into full speed. We didn't have anyone fast enough to keep up
Same thing when he scored the solo try down the right wing
Nobody fast enough to support
