That was a cracking interview. If you haven't watched it yet, you must do so.

I only took positives out of that, and didn't get any 'homesick' feels from that. In fact felt the opposite, he seems so tight with the group and Webby, and all of that seems genuine.

Can only wish the guy all the best and hope he recovers well to come back bigger and better than ever. I love the attitude he has of shooting for those big goals and being open about it. There isn't a cockiness there but a likeable confidence.

Still having higher rep honors ambitions with all the set backs and injuries is admirable
He has come through the OZ system and played junior SOO and been a star
No better grounding for anyone especially a half

Thinking, well at least we have 2 possible great halves with boyd and cleary, who could end up even better! The warriors don't need you! Which is a surprising feeling.

Yeah, I was a bit mixed in the feels department about hearing that.

But thinking about it further, I do wonder if there is a bit of water treading happening while we wait for a Jerome Hughes to come up through the development systems.

It feels like we've never gotten the 'homegrown halfback' right with people like SJ being a bit of a freak find (coming from touch).

I think the comforting thing is that we currently have a system that caters for both xfactor and systematic halfbacks, which kinda increases our chances of developing our own countrymen into halfbacks that we can use to good effect.

Just a thought.

I am intrigued what happens if Boyd plays well and carries to the next season, unless there’s an injury he’s our general, does Luke swap out CHT, who’s clearly entering his prime…CHT to 14 and Healey/TMM stuck at cup? Luke as 14? lol.

Jye is probably having a full year at cup to rebuild everything and Jett won’t be ready, maybe Jye will be ready to rip in 27 and Jett can debut and then be a regular in 28.

If Boyd’s going to Perth in 27 I’d actually extend TMM for 26 and club option for 27, next year Luke won’t be around for 1/3 of the season and Jye/Jett are not ready, he’s our first drop/utility and he’s happy to do so. 27 depending on how far Jye/Jett progress if Jett’s not quite there TMM is 3rd or 4th half then he can move on in 28

Unless they’re gambling on Hansen.

I would have CHT move to left center as his defence is what we need.

Ooo. Good call. He hasn't IMO got the organization of a true half. But he's a courageous hitter and faster, more flair than Pompey - no disrespect to Pompz. I'd give this idea a go. And I'd convince Boyd to stay. I just think he's the perfect compliment to Metcalf. Frees Luke up to run even more and do what he does best - run into gaps. Not that Metcalf has been a bad organizer. He was on the brink of Dally M Player of the year. But I always felt he'd be even better if he didn't have the responsibility of organizing. And let's be honest, the backline flowed last week like it hasn't flowed since SJ 2023.

hmmm, I know we're on the Metcalf thread here but I can't see CHT as a centre - I don't know what it is, maybe just his build?
