If true do we think the Roosters have gone cold on him.
Almost guarantee his plan was the Roosters.
Don’t think this has turned out how DCE imagined.
I reckon roosters had him but the likes of Savala and some younger guys are further along than they thought and they’ve managed to offload him. There was talk he wanted to stay in Sydney so would be ideal. Interesting the timing yesterday of dragons saying they’re looking for a marquee 7

It would probably be a pretty symbiotic relationship.

The Dragons are solid enough at the moment, they are missing a half and DCE could give them pretty adequate service. They could hover around the 6-8 position and keep everyone's jobs safe and the fans somewhat satisfied. Depends on their ambition I suppose.

No Cooper Cronk sail off into the sunset for DCE though, if that is what he is searching for.

Ilias isn’t getting back in despite their nsw cup going well and the guy he plays with there Jonah Glover has signed with rabbits. LKT looking good and Daniel Atkinson heading there and talk 6 will be between those two. Keeping Kyle Flanagan in the halves was going to cost him his job but the nepotism doesn’t end there. Apparently will try Kyle at lock

Titans be a team to keep an eye on, AKP apparently on the outer and reports a lower team has inquired on the availability of Tino. He’s got an option for 2027 so can negotiate in November. Saw somewhere else of Jayden Campbell linked to Perth and they’ve given Kini big money apparently

Gold Coast Titans to begin search for new coach with Des Hasler set to depart

Des Hasler is finished at the Gold Coast Titans – the only sticking point is when the embattled coach finishes up with the club. See the details here.

Des Hasler is set to leave the Titans at the end of the season with suggestions the veteran mentor will retire.
Pressure is mounting on the Titans coach with his two year stint on the Gold Coast expected to end abruptly.

The Titans have control over Hasler’s future with the club free to part ways with him should they fail to make the finals under a secret clause revealed by this masthead.

The Daily Telegraph’s Michael Carayannis on Wednesday morning told SEN Breakfast the truth is that Hasler is walking away after reaching a mutual understanding.

This would normally involve some form of contract payout, however no payment would be required as result of the clause inserted into Hasler’s contract by the Titans.

“It’ll be called a retirement but it’s a mutual understanding,” he said.

“The Gold Coast Titans can call it whatever they like but Des won’t be the coach next season. It’s been an absolute failure.”

Gold Coast are next to no chance of making the top eight with Hasler considering retiring at the end of the season.

The Titans are six points outside the top eight and sit at the bottom of the ladder.

“The mail I am getting out of the Gold Coast is that Des Hasler will make an announcement very soon on his future,” Phil Rothfield said on his Off The Record Podcast.

“Des has had particularly bitter exits with Canterbury and Manly…I have a feeling that after such a disastrous season that he will retire from rugby league. He has been a premiership winning coach. He had a fair roster this year. He is now planning retirement.

They need a fresh start.”

The retirement-line would allow the Titans to part ways with Hasler cleanly and enable them to search for a new head coach.

The likes of Josh Hannay, Willie Peters, Matt King and Dean Young would be at the top of their list. Hasler was brought in to replace Justin Holbrook but his two years in charge has failed to amount to any success.

Andrew Webster on the Off The Record podcast also said there could be widespread changes at the club beyond the coach.

The Frizelle family have assumed full ownership of the club after buying out Darryl Kelly.

“The Frizelle’s have been looking to get control of the club in its entirety and blow the whole thing up and start again.” Webster said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if they changed the jumper and made serious change across the whole organisation. They will throw the bank at a big name coach to get them there.”

The Titans need a young upcoming coach, not some has been who's days are in the past. The game has changed dramatically over the last couple of years and even the powerhouses like Bennett and Bellamy, Robinson reach a limit of what they can achieve with players 40 years younger than them.

Isn’t David Tangata-Toa a GC lad?
You’d have to say he is doing a good job with the Warriors NSW CUp team - probably too soon but is he worth a punt?

It's great that he's still working after all that happened, but he's not done a hell of a lot with the Roosters, or rather, hasn't done much that has worked out for them.

Maybe that's because Uncle Nick's eyes gloss over when there is a new shiny toy, maybe that's because Robinson is an overrated coach, but the point stands. Connor Watson is probably the only signing where the consensus would be, "that was a great get"

In any case, I'd much rather see him find success with the Dargons than the Roosters. Worst case scenario is they go and sign a few "big name" players from days gone by, which is what they were already doing anyway lol
