Webster has doubled down on his game plan that everyone tore shreds off in 2024.

Crazy when you think how in Websters first year everyone was praising his game plan.

Crazier still that in Websters second year that the fans turned on his game plan and demanded his scalp or change.

Yet despite all the noise, Webster decided to double down on his game plan as his strategy for 2025.

We are still focusing on kick chase, low risk plays, ergo completions, and territory. In fact we are even more focused this season on ruck play, off the ball work, and playing vanilla safe.

I believe Webster is the best coach we have had, before him I would have ranked Anderson as first and Cleary as second.

Anderson will always be in conversation for the goat, he has firsts than can never be taken off him, minor prems for mine says it all about Anderson.

Anderson was unique in that he embraced the NZ flair game, against his Aussie instincts, kinda like Todd Paytens Cows, and Stickies Raiders, or the Broncos, a legit way to run a team in this comp.

Cleary on the other hand was Mr reserved, Mr Safety, Mr boring, Mr consistent.

The difference between Anderson, Cleary and Webster is this:

Webster is the first coach of this club to get consistency out of his B side injury depleted line ups without the Simon Mannering or Michael Luck or Kevin Campion figure.

Webster is missing JFH and RTS and his nobodies are playing like top four players without their talisman leaders.

Coach Andrew Webster they say.

Fook off Coach no excuses is who Webster is. No complaints about Travel, Reffs, Injuries, no complaints about his own players (no CLeary he knows what he has done Inu rubbish or Anderson getting security to escort Ali off the premises like that was gonna play out any other way than a total dressing room revolt).

Unlike Anderson and Cleary, Webster is not attached to any dressing room dramas.

The way he kept the AFB walk out quiet with a quick nip and tuck one week suspension when the truth of that story was much bigger says it all. AFB sank Websters second season. Webster could have taken the pulpit on that one and banked buckets of excuses like someone like Sticky would have.

Warriors teams of old Cleary’s squad no exception had bad dropped ball, even just as they were in command they'd turn it over.
Webster seems to do the small things well and we have respect for the footy too.

I thought he had his second year syndrome last year and his bench rotation was crap, playing players busted and AFB was probably a cancer and should have been cut immediately, his wife certainly did her best, most criticisms were valid, Webby took it onboard like a man and with Fish’s arrival now we are flying, apparently the players took the Vegas fan criticism personally and proved themselves, so healthy pressure in pro sport is good, it’s when you turn fans off and nobody cares you have a problem

In saying that like i said in the other thread, Webby could be one of our buys of the century

We were pretty unlucky last year and have had a fair bit of luck this year which has balanced it out. Credit to Webby on believing in his game plan and evolving it this season

I think you are being a bit harsh on Cleary, he did very well considering the cattle he had and you can definitely see the Cleary influence on Websters coaching.

Webster faced a perfect storm of challenges last season—injuries to key players, the decline of aging stars, and people wanting to leave for various reasons. Early narrow losses also took a toll on the team's confidence.
Now in Round 9 of this season, it’s already evident that Webster has absorbed valuable lessons from the previous two years at the helm.
He's quality and we are lucky to have him.

Wait till he has his string of losses before everyone gets on his band wagon.

Can Webster do that?
I’m Confident he can

Hes removed all the drama queens in the squad- Curran, AFB, some could argue SJ

Hes getting the chemistry right - hard working, thick skinned, no fuck around leaders in Barnett, JFH, Capewell, Ford, Egan, Marata, Metcalf.. CNK…their character and attitude no doubt has a positive influence on Leka, Laban, Demitric etc…. there’s no sulking on the field, heads down or passive aggressive attitudes…. I also think that’s why Kosi is still with this team… must be a good influence on culture and hard work despite his flaws…

Also wonder how much of Walkers off field dramas contributed to our poor performance. Last year …again without this drama and distraction it’s certainly helped that he moved on…

Now as for Richard Agar… the jury is still out on him
