No that was you're a bitch lol. It's a bit of a worry when I was supposed to type both not bitch. Good enough to play a few seasons there at NRL level so on the odd occasion there may be an injury he'll be fine. My team is far too good to get injuries anyway.I wouldn’t say Lewis was a bitch- can’t see in the halves or hooker is all
certainty not at this elite level.
I’ll pin that statement to ian roberts locker room when we play u.No that was you're a bitch lol.
We don't play tier 2 teams.I’ll pin that statement to ian roberts locker room when we play u.
Yeah he’s before my time as well, think we might be a similar vintage - I’m test matches & a bit of Origin from probably around 86-87 & Winfield Cup from 1989. Although always thought we had a pretty gun local league side when I spent years 1-7 growing up in ParemataJust a touch before my time tbh- don’t remember him but obviously he was very highly rated.
Almost exactly the same- started playing in 84 but only followed our local club or the kiwis.Yeah he’s before my time as well, think we might be a similar vintage - I’m test matches & a bit of Origin from probably around 86-87 & Winfield Cup from 1989. It's ok, I've paid off Billy Harrigan to refAnd I’ll pin that to GordonTallis’s- your about to get hodgsoned!

The Beanflickers RLFC would like to congratulate @Cces on pulling together our inaugural side, one which would be capable of creating a Rugby League dynasty, in such a short frame of time. This announcement is tinged with some sadness however as we also announce his resignation as he feels he has failed in his ultimate goal of creating the strongest side amongst Wrighty's Black Sheep competitors. Top 3 perhaps, but as a result of some erratic contract negotiations, not the 2024/25 champions.
Working backwards from the front row the side has the propping pair of Lazarus & Todd who combined to help the Raiders win back to back NSWRL titles alongside another man in the #9 who also achieved 2 competition wins in consecutive seasons and whose talents are criminally overlooked due to the exploits of his twin & older brother. Lazarus will captain the side & Todd will run the teams Social Commitee to ensure there's a great work/life balance.
The Second Row consists of two of the toughest & hardest working Anglo-Saxon's to have ever played the game. Fearless line runners with no regards to their own safety and who have the workrate, speed & nous to shut down even the most well timed sweep plays of the opposition from the inside. Rounding out the backrow is the only man to win 5 Dally M Lock of the Year awards & he achieved that feat in just a 5 year period. In the unlikely event that the opposition break the line he's got them covered.
The man who's outstanding talents prompted Darren Lockyer's positional switch will don the #1. Karmichael Hunt will make sure that every set on the back of a kick return has forward momentum by launching himself into the kick chase line & will ice any 3 on 2 situation in good field position. Carry 2 of any set will be from Anthony Minichiello & he'll utilize his incredible strength, honed from years of gymnastics, to keep the defensive line back peddling to help create opportunities that Chicka Ferguson will convert into points 99 times out of 100 as a result of his speed & evasiveness. The last pass for the numerous tries that this team will score will be thrown by Stephen Crichton &/or Jamie Lyon. Such is the skill level of these two they will interchange sides of the field as they see fit and defensively they'll shut down whatever their opponents throw at them.
The halves pairing will see Allan Langer dominate play & Kieran Foran act as his 2IC on attack. Our forward pack has been chosen to result in an abundance of field postion so Langer's short kicking game with be prominent throughout. We've specifically recruited the 2011 version of Foran which means resilience to injury is high & dotting down 1 in every 3 games is the norm.
The bench are game changers. AFB & Tino will spell the starting Props at the 25th minute mark & will create havoc upon their tired opposition. Both have the endurance to play 55 minutes straight from there giving tactical freedom to the coach. Henry Paul's ball playing & ability to produce individual bits of brilliance make him the ideal #14. He's toppled the Kangaroos as a dummy half & dominated grand finals in the halves as well as playing Test footy on the Wing. Games that are in the balance could well be swung The Beanflickers way on the back of his introduction into a match. Pritchard has won the #17 jersey after careful consideration & is very much a luxury sub to have. Some days his services wouldn't be required as the starters, along with AFB & Tino, will have the match sewn up but, if required, the wrecking ball that is Frank the Tank is ready to skittle some unfortunate humans who get in his path.
I can see some themes to teams.Wrighty’s very limited review bearing in mind my limited periods of viewership and expertise
Well played everybody
- Tyrael – I like the Sam Burgess pick. I think that was astute. I think Burgess will be remembered fondly as a player as time passes. I never liked Luai compared to players of this stature and would have been chasing a Terry Lamb/ Brett Kenny at the end there to round my team out. Even though paid fair coin for Farrah that pick looks fair dinkum in your line up where elite hookers were scarce, and I thought better price than Mr B paid for Ricky. Well done very competitive team. You got my vote based on Tonie Carroll as the edging factor, I also liked Ben Hunt at 14, and thought he was a strong choice for a 14 having played plenty of SOO there.
- Wizards – I think with your theme you should have chased Iro rather than Hodges. That said you were one of the few contestants to have a theme and it really paid dividends for you in giving a cohesive look to your team. Certainly, I think others have learned from you for next time and will think you see others picking a theme. It was a POD unto itself. I personally really like Thaiday and Thorn for your second row given they actually played together for the Broncos. I never was a fan of Cameron Murray and J don’t think he fits your team. Suspect you picked him before you honed in on your theme around round 4 then everything started gelling for you. There is something about your “team” that makes it look like a team of hard nosed players. Well done on truly building a team.
- Defence – So many gun players that I loved and adored in my child hood. I remember fondly an eels match growing up that went down to the wire. Eels had the pill in the red zone with 2 minutes left before they could get to the 6th tackle for the drop kick to take the lead by one point they fumbled the ball for a knock on. And I for the rest of my life will remember tbe commentator “And there is Sterling he is livid with his team, he didn’t want to wait for the drop kick to the last tackle for precisely this reason. They didn’t listen and paid the price. “
What a player Sterlo was. I think Wally is and was better than Johns. Not that I saw much of Johns. I am going to stop there as if you think my Sterlo story was long I could fill a page about Wally. He was the rangitira toa for the Kangaroos in the 1980s. Which means Warrior Chieftan. Picks I had trouble getting on board with: despite being a multiple premiership winner, has To’o arrived on the international stage? Likewise Hamiso? Even Manu despite winning a golden boot I glanced twice at. Great team. You will be close to the podium if not on it.- Mr B – I found the team name a bit jolting for a read at 7am in the morning!!! I felt you starting to pull away from the pack when you took Folau. I thought holy crow here we go, the big dogs are coming to play when that pick came out. Where you did lose me was not the team name but Hanley. I was stoked for you when you got Hanley but then you put him at centre rather than lock. I personally consider lock to be his iconic position. But then if you put him at Lock where would Fittler go? I would have played Fittler at stand off and put Kenny at centre. The bench – I liked Elias at 14. What I did like was Stuart at 7 even if he did cost a bit. Tom Turbo was a good choice at full back and I liked how you seemed to trying to stack your team with players who all costed $1M approx..Well done looks like you are an early leader in the voting. Well played. Shrewd picks throughout.
- Inruin – you are taking some heat for picking Prince. I was ok with him and thought you did well to get him that late in the game. Tedesco was who I noticed in your spine as not comparing well to the other full backs. An elite NRL player who has done less as a Kangaroo.. I think you faced a choice of where to put Daley: centre or Stand off. It is always a hard choice as I have taken him before in previous games. If you could have snagged Brett Kenny at the end this might have given you more options for that choice to ponder and bite your nails over.
Great picks with Renouf, Buderus, Taumalolo, Webke
Well done great side and you will come close to the podium.- The Apex Predators Naumai. Love the name. Not just the predators. The Apex Predators. Haha.
I really like your pick of Berrigan he always is good value in these drafts. Who knows what legacy Nathan Cleary will have? An immortal? Who knows. As mentioned I didn’t rate Wighton at centre. Your props caught my eye as being strong international level players but ones that didn’t move the needle in a game like this and props are a position people look at closely. Next time if you can get a Blocker, or Wiki, or a Price it all helps with the perception of the pack. Good team Thanks for playing and hope you enjoyed it.- BillySpleen. With my missing years of Rugby League I wasn’t familiar with a few of your players including Brett Stewart at fullback. I love your pack and think it is the best pack in the contest. By oversight I didn’t vote for you, as got confused when I was clicking on voting buttons but you deserve to the on the podium. Terrific team especially since you missed a few rounds.
- CCes. Welcome to the Wrighty games. Hope you enjoyed it. Loved the Chicka Ferguson pick. Was really warming up to your side when you took him. And you had me fan boying when you went all in on Mark Graham. Hard to split your pack from BillySpleen’s for best pack. I did not rate your pick of Stephen Crichton so early in his career for a game like this, so I did raise an eyebrow there. I also don’t think that Foran has done enough in a game where someone like Benji Marshall is just an average par pick at half.
- Boats n Hoes. Felt you leveraged your previous experience in Wrighty Games to take it up a notch in this game. I think this is the best team you have put together so far based on my vague memories. You got my vote based on the Fox, Offiah and Iro in your outside backs. I really feel Offiah is a POD in these sorts of games and so did you as you made sure you won the bidding for him. Ten tries in a match. Are you kidding me? Yes he really scored ten tries in one game.
I did look long and hard at Isaiah Yeo as your lock as to whether he has earned his stripes yet then decided he has given how well he played for the Kangaroos this year. I did not like Smith at 14 as he has become a prank player recently and I thought Josh Papali’I was a stretch even for the bench. One of the best teams, you had my vote. Right in amongst the voting.- Muddogz. Also like the name, the Dunners Stunners. Good to have you here from down South. Candidate for best spine in the competition??? Belcher, Alexander, Thurston and GOAT. I really liked the Alexander pick and think he is underrated. I think you had some coin available at the end and should have joined the auction for Blocker. And would have preferred anoher lock than Harris in a game like this. I like your bench very much. One of the better benches with Kurt Sorenson sitting on it.
I think I put a bid in on iro and missed out. Also bid on Bell and he missed the criteria.Wizards – I think with your theme you should have chased Iro rather than Hodges. That said you were one of the few contestants to have a theme and it really paid dividends for you in giving a cohesive look to your team. There is something about your “team” that makes it look like a team of hard nosed players. Well done on truly building a team.
You raise a point on my team that I thought long & hard about. As soon as I realised I could grab Kenny it was all about how best to fit him in - he kept Meninga out of the centre position on a Roos tour when Sterling & Wally were the halves, so you are right about centre being a great option. However I really needed Fittler at lock, I think it’s the perfect position, & Hanley was just so damn versatile - played plenty of games at centre including when he went ape playing for Balmain in 88, but can you believe he even started at prop in a test! But I could have gone Fittler at centre, & even dropping Boustead out of my team was a difficult decision - I liked the idea of having both the youngest Kangaroo tourist (Fittler) & the youngest to represent the Kangaroos in an Australian based test (Boustead) in the same side, plus one of only two specialist wingers since 1980 in the Hall of Fame. But good observations from you.Wrighty’s very limited review bearing in mind my limited periods of viewership and expertise

I honestly thought you were going to go Renouf. You had to strengthen your outside backs though with someone. You raise a point on my team that I thought long & hard about. I was very close to doing that, however Brett Kenny is a whole different level to Renouf who is still a top tier gun but you can’t turn down the elite when they’re on offer.I honestly thought you were going to go Renouf. You had to strengthen your outside backs though with someone.
I dont disagree with that at allOk a few thoughts on all your teams, agree with Defence that all sides are really strong, so well done everyone!!
Boats you did incredibly well to pick up Joey for the price you paid, arguably the best player in the entire comp. Probably the fastest wingers, some of the forwards just a bit middling although I love the Toopi Lauiti’iti combo you’ve put together.
We all had to make sacrifices - my second rowers were a long time coming, missing out on Sironen partly because I was having beers at the time really hurt!I dont disagree with that at all
Probably left my run on the forwards too late and missing out on Blocker Roach hurt cause it wouldve just given that pack a bit more status.....but you have to make the most of what you got and in the end going the Lomax/Pongia route isnt the worst thing to happen.
