Social Wrighty presents Forum Sheep game for 2024 - Round Ten Underway

I will pay the fee. I’m struggling to put together a cohesive game plan. Don’t really know who I’m aiming for and just keep randomly picking who looks good each round.

Keep missing out on big name Aussies that I really want. Got my halves sorted. Munster is a 3 time Daly M that’s really compliments Freeman’s game management.

Who would you recommend for my other centre. I’m thinking trying RTS in there just to fit him in.

Betham is a borderline hooker but I put all my eggs in the C Smith basket.

I’m lost. I can’t even spend my money cause I keep missing out on everyone good.
OK please conform we have a deal - sounds like the fee has been lowered to $5K please confirm that you are on and will deduct it from your war chest in the next little while if you confirm. As mentioned the advice will be in the thread for transparency so others may learn a few tips too but that is ok.

My consulting advice which you can query and ask additional questions

1) You need to get one of the remaining elite halves - luckily prices are coming down. That is your first priority. Munster is a poor option in a game of legends like this and you need a much better option. Voters are going to go straight to spine first off and if someone as low on the totem pole as Munster is there you are in trouble. Spend over $1M here if you need to.
2) Betham at hooker - If you can snake a real bargain basement deal on a better hooker go for it but don't make this a priority as all the big name hooker are gone. Betham is a 4 out o ten player as far as these games go, f you replace him with a 7 out of ten hooker who costs you $600K will anybody care and vote more for you because you have a 7 out of ten hooker instead of a 4 out of ten hooker. I don't think so. The other thing is that this is the warriors forum so while objectively Betham in a game of All time great players is a 4 out of ten this is the warriors forum and people will remember Betham well and regard him as a 5.5 or even a 6 just because he was a fan favourite and got into fights. So are you even upgrading much anyway if you find a 7 out of ten players. I would keep my powder dry for the other priorities for your team. The other thing is that all the all time great 9 or 10 out of ten hookers are gone. I have no idea how mr B got Elias for $100K all of you should be lined up against a wall and shot for letting him do that.
If you don't listen to any of this advice and do upgrade at hooker then don't put Betham on your bench put him in the reserves 18-22 as I mentioned to you - your only chance of winning is your bench which is comfortably the best bench in the competition by miles. No one is close to your bench so don't change that under any circumstances by putting Monty on it.
3) You need an elite all time great centre. Pay over a $1M if you need to. Do what it takes. Roger is not an option at centre. Your team will be laughed at if you put Roger at centre.
4) Take the money you save by leaving your hooker as Betham and upgrade RCG at prop. You have probably the worst starting props in the contest. And RCG is a big reason for that. If Betham is a 4 out of ten is a game of All time greats then RCG barely rates a 2. You must find a strong prop for $600 - $800K who is a household name. Spend more if you need to.
5) I think you will get by with Thorn, Tapau and Murray at 11,12 and 13. If you want to upgrade any of them then Murray at 13.

That is my advice for pimping your team.

Ellias was a funny one because I even researched him and no mention anywhere of him having a brother who played.
Then brownstone pulls out that random fella who the project said was bennys brother.
How the fark did u know about that brownstone?

Great advice.

Despite your great advice I’m still set on my halves pairing. Munster is a 3 x Daly M 6 of the year. Severely under rated. Future hall of famer.

Thanks for the advice on centre. I’m thinking Blake Ferguson but will see who’s available?

I agree on RCG, he’s a place holder until big J Vagana becomes available. But mate, I know you’re new to league but my other prop, Harragon was second only to Lazarus but twice as scary! Absolute legend!

Great advice, I will mull it over.

It's your round coming up soon. Choose your criteria well and utilize the extra $400k

I'd also think about moving Marty tapau to the bench, cam Murray to 12 and gallen to lock. But that's just me

There was a black comedy I watched two years ago at the movies with my mother. Some art house movie, There was an island off the coast of Ireland with a small village and one pub. There were two friends who hung out at the pub each day. Dave decided he hated Simon one day and decided he never wanted to talk to him again ever. Simon kept coming over to his house to try to patch things up. Dave said from now on every time you come over to my house or say hello to me in the street I will cut one of my fingers off and send it to you in the mail. And then in the movie there were gruesome scenes of fingers being sent in the mail to Simon,.

I find the above advice, egregious specifically about Murray, while he can play 2nd row at NRL level at test match level he is a lock or nothing at all. The Kangaroos would never in 300 years pick Murray as a starting second rower in a test match given the better choices they have available. If you take this advice I will be so appalled I will need to chop off one of my fingers like in the movie and send it to you. Please provide me with address if you decide to take up this advice.

Gee that's a bit rough mate! Cam Murray has played Origin and internationals at second row, probably more times than he has played lock. Just felt to me that Gallen at lock, Murray at 12 with Tapau on the bench would be a better balance. But for the sake of your fingers, which can be put to better use than cutting them off, I humbly withdraw my suggestion

Wow I never knew. Thanks for pointing that out. Rugby league project says 4 tests at 2nd row and only at 2 at lock.
Most of his NRL career he has been a lock though and I don't agree with the Kangaroos picking him at all at the 2nd row and think that is a poor choice.
In the NRL level he has played 126 times at Lock and only 10 times at second row.

Even with missing fingers he could probably still use his hand but I wouldn’t count on it 🤭

And Marty Tapau has been predominantly a front rower. Paul Gallen predominantly a lock. If it's good enough for Qld and Australia to pick him in the second row I think Wiz should too. Apologies to your finger, will you send it chilled or standard mail? Which finger would you choose?

I am sure you are close to picking out a finger to show me after my provocative humour. All meant in banter which is what we are really for the game comes second to the banter. I know you enjoyed it as saw your laugh emoji !!!!!!

I'm actually genuinely curious now. If you were to pick a finger which would it be? Non dominant hand is a given I would have thought.

I think this whole thread and game has been taken in great spirits. Even the odd muck up has been quickly accepted and forgotten. Good bunch of members to play with. That last line was for you tyrael tyrael

To put this to bed:

1 - I believe second rowers should be huge humans able to run a crash ball and Murray will never be a in my second row
2 - I plan on my team and positions being significantly changed once complete

As I said, I was at Starbucks with my daughter & while she got her sugar fix for the next 12 months I was ruminating about the game & it just came into my head to check Elias, I think possibly because I already had Walter’s & was thinking what a great combo they’d be with Elias coming off the bench. Sent the trade into wrighty immediately.

It was a beauty.

Please stay away from Starbucks while playing these games in future
