I see getting gassed as an excuse

Pompey could do a shift in the forwards. Play on the wing then occasionally swap with Laban with the goal of Laban getting more hit ups in the next set

Laban has handles. I saw him take a few nice bombs in nsw cup so i know he can catch. He’s got speed to burn also.

Gotta think smart and use your squad to its fullest potential
I was thinking Ford should be competing on high balls.

Thinking outside of the box is good bro. My only argument against it would be the wingers speed to cover ground if the kick is short. But it has merit vs let's get another winger like Manu who is the size of a prop. Sheesh I like the outside of the box ideas.
How about we do this defence idea where we number up and mark our bloke.
Or it’s certainly players not dominating in the tackle allowing the opposition a quick play of the ball.
Such a lot of variables including which way the ref leans. I'm actually quite conspiratorial about match fixing the way we go from red hot to shithouse so seamlessly around the 20min mark. Or all of a sudden even though we spend hours every week building muscle memory, skills development for this sport suddenly we can't catch, pass, tackle or kick.

the game plan isnt working

how can we win most stats and not win.

How is 0-20 and 60-80 good

why is 20 -60 mins shite
Maybe our best footy isn't sustainable for us yet.

Or we aren't as fit or endurant as needed.

Or our bench rotation doesn't match the game plan.

Or individuals aren't pulling their weight or aren't consistent first grade quality.

Personally I think the game plan is fine but the execution is well off.

He scored off such a play vs Dragons last year. So I'm in agreement for variation in kick chase application. If we can kick it to the most midget bloke then contest. If not then maybe contest. If worthwhile.....tackle and suffocate.

You know what I find strange

In a goal drop out we are ok to contest for the ball rather than kick long

Yet when we’re in their 20m line we’d rather not contest and waste energy and time hoping for a mistake or grind them out and win yardage on the kick return. It’s a low return strategy.

I rather we compete for the ball just like we would in a short drop with the expectation we get the ball back. Then attack the line. The reward is high.

What’s the worst that could happen. They get the ball back like they would have anyway had we not contested?

Agree, think about it, all it will take is to take a hard enough knock and you're playing at a diminished capacity (75% say), affecting execution and hit up's tackling efficiency etc. imagine, having 2-4 per game, how long will it take to get back to 90% 5-7 days or what? the toll to the boyz bodies is unreal, we've been playing very hard games from round 1, is it any wonder we've been looking decidedly under the weather, sluggish in all aspects of play.

Maybe we lost the rucks in the 20-60 minutes as nobody was abusing the ball carriers like Marata was, not as many big shots from AFB this year, and nobody was crashing into the defense like Bunty, Jazz or Curran, hope Zyon Maiu’u takes that role and Laban go harder and just play 30-35 minutes

bit of a whinging session re: kiwi commentators on sky for the tits game. I prefer the biased as commentators on from oz, one of our commentators kept giving an unbiased commentary which pissed me off "oh how good was the titty player" awesome run, awedome tackle etc, etc...kept been so bloody fair FARK!!! - give me bloocker roach anytime - just bloody say how great the warriors players are never mind the opposition players - rant over!!!

This. Exactly this.
Remember last year when we had almost all the troops on board?
And the team was all the better for it? Even Harris got to play reduced minutes?
This break is a godsend after 4 games in 23 days, the last 3 in 15 days. With how many 1st string troops out?
Its not rocket science why we're busted.

One quite a few kicks we have 3 players forward covering. One should be competing, 2 should be defending / supporting a bat back.

Any high kick could/should be contested or just go long or grubber. It is strange and the onus is on Webby to allow the team to take off the shackles and play a balanced mix of structure and free flowing enjoyable play. Robot play is only part of what we need

Excuse me for being positive but we haven't had our bye yet (in contrast to some other teams above us on the table: Sharks, Storm, Dolphins, Panthers and Cowboys). Therefore, we have a two point advantage over these teams which isn't taken into account in setting the ladder ie two points are added on to teams having the bye. Just a quirk in the system that makes us look worse in the rankings.

Agh the old free 2 points from the bye discussion…. I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this 😂

Unfortunately if you took away the 2 points from all the teams were still outside the top 8 and sitting 11th…

Personally I think we got shafted by the nrl giving us a bye in the very last round … the one week off right before the finals can really mess up a teams momentum…

Positivity is great. Love your enthusiasm.

We are busted as has been pointed out here and still other teams are winning.........sigh

It was interesting after the game on the field to see CHT having a long extended chat with Walker, TMM and Egan. It didn’t look heated or anything, but it was a solid 10 minutes of CHT talking at the other spine players about the game. I don’t often see long debriefs on the field like that, I would have loved to be a fly on a blade of grass to hear that chat.

He is an experienced spine player. Is in the pecking order and can give sideline observations.

Man I hope we don't stop trusting in each other on and off the field. That would be hard to inoculate.

I tend towards the argument that the referee knows he didn't give Team A enough 50/50s earlier so he's going to give them a few now. The old "I'd rather be accused of being shite than biased" argument.
It's Shit A or Shit B, really, going down that road. They should just call it the way they see it and screw everybody else and any after-match criticism is going to happen anyway. But, nope...

As to Kav1's point. When I'm boss of the NRL, after getting rid of Golden Point for Regular Season, I'm getting rid of the 2 Points For A Bye rubbish...Makes things confusing for no good reason...

Ironic only time I recall Rocco contesting a bomb, a well placed one, he scores? We are slow AF in my opinion, strong back 5, speed DWZ aside sweet FA. Egan since Souths game has been a shadow of that form.

Webby is learning a lot about himself as a coach. The next month will decide our season and the draw is not pretty. Lower grades starting to win surely a few changes in 1st grade due…
