Finally played well after the bye, hallelujah.

Boyd diving into the line and squaring up the D line in attack well which we have struggled with all season, as Metcalf is still working on that part of his game. Great club debut, and the attack will only get better with time together.

Last try could have been avoided, not sure why Webby had Ford out there for 60mins straight, so I don't blame Ford for that one.

Happy to finally get a win, feels like an eternity.

That was a B for me. Promising signs, but we played a bit too loose for my liking. To start the year we've been completing at near 90% range. Today we dropped a lot of ball and many of those errors led directly to the tigers 3 tries. That miss by Jackson through the middle for the third try was not acceptable and you could see how pissed JFH was (and rightly so). Nonetheless, we were in control for most of that game and the scoreline did reflect our dominance, especially through the middle. Tigers are just too weak in the forwards to contend for the 8 anytime soon.

Tannah was great. Certainly different from Luke. Doesn't run the ball or pose the same X factor threat. But he makes up for that by giving us a lot more structure in our attack. The number of times we stripped the tigers for numbers and put DWZ in space was amazing. We haven't seen that since 2023 and certainly never under Luke. Luke just doesn't have the long pass that Boyd provides. He's also a better kicker than Luke. Luke would have missed those two kicks across to the side and made the game closer than it should have been.

TT at FB was phenomenal. Provides a different point of attack against a staggered defensive line, even if his defensive work rate is lower than CNK. Might provide some of the X factor in attack we lose without LM. Maybe with Berry out, and Ali suspect with injuries too, we give the TT at 1 and CNK at centre a shot?

Agree with what you say, but with the significant injuries we've had in the last month - Barney, LM and CNK, and to not have Capewah after origin, and to then have a centre go down injured before half time...all things considered, I felt that was a pretty good dig.

We left a few points out there imo.

Also, I feel the ref was pretty shit towards us? Ford's ghost strip in the first few minutes, our challenge being declined, and a few other things seemed to go against us. Especially when it was 22 - 14 I had a few worries they were trying to manufacture a closer game
I agree with you. Not just with the injuries you mention, but all year we've shown incredible fight when faced with a bad injury situations (especially in the centres). Even last game against Brisbane, with everything going wrong, we really put up a good fight imo. Most other teams probably get blown apart by Brisbane who just decided to be on against us.

I noticed over the bye week that many Aussies are predicting that we will fall apart and drop out of the four entirely. After all the hard work from the first half of the year, I don't think we're giving up our position in the 4 without a fight. Tanah, TT and co will rise to the challenge as others have done.

Just FANtastic! The tigs came to play alright. That early try was a gimme though, just MO.

Glad for Berry to score the 1st, his defensive read is brutal (in a good way.) So sad he's made of glass. Heal up, wired glass is what you need mate, a quick recovery to ya Rocco (y):) You'll become one of Our Greatest Centres in NZ history, you'll see.

That Challenge was awful! I almost threw my jandal at the TV! Pfft.

Cool, Calm and Menacing "We have the greatest Fans in the World." - JFH. O.K, he didn't say that exactly but that's what 'I' heard haha!

Anyhow, sleep well All you NZWarriors.com'ers. And to All those fans up there that went to MSS... I envy you seen it live.

We gonna roll the ny-nites next week. Up the Wahs! 🖐️😛

When push comes to shove

Penrith
Storm
Broncos

All stronger on paper and I would expect them to stream roll us when it matters the most - Finals
games aren't won on paper, as origin showed. Us, Canberra and the Dogs are over performing this year no doubt. But I think it's important to take the long-term perspective. I don't think any of us really thought 2025 was the window. Rather this year was all about setting up the future. With our youngsters coming out of a dominant NSW cup side that is only used to winning and a two-time winning Harold Matts team further down on the pathways, I think we can all agree that we are a side on the up and that we will only get better.

Even if we don't win it this year, a second top 4 finish in 3 years will give our young guns valuable experience in understanding what is still needed to challenge for a premiership. I firmly believe on the trajectory generated by this year, we'll be on track to seriously challenge those sides in a couple of years (maybe even next year if all goes according to plan).

Gotta love, Pompey. Such a no fuss, just get it done player.

Can play left or right, centre or wing at a pinch. Solid defender, has come up against the best centres in the league and they rarely do a number on him. Handy attacker and solid goal kicker also.

They drop like flies around him and he just keeps turning up. Bit of an unsung hero in the squad, we'd be in a spot of bother without him plugging gaps continuously.

Was looking at Leka's stats, and you can't help but be impressed. 43 tackles yesterday, the most he'd ever made in a game to date, and still had enough energy to pump out over 100 running meters, and compete for the ball that lead to CHTs second try, and then finish it off at the end with a try for himself.

Leka's becoming quite the weapon in the air, he's scored 2 or 3 himself and has competed for the ball in the air which has resulted in a few tries too, two in the last two games.

Also now has 7 tries for the year, does anyone know what the Wahs record is for the most tries by a forward in a year? I know Addin scored 10, can't be too much more than that surely?

Jeeze when we learn to get Halasima one on one 3 or 4 times a game hes going to be scoring even more than he is now

I can't think of any backrower who this season has scored tries running down both left and right touchlines. Is Leka the prototype for back row players for the future?

To be fair, Leka appears to be a generational talent and could be the exception, not the rule.

To be hanging with seasoned professionals at 19, and make over 40 tackles and then to still chase hard and help create the 2nd to last try, and then have enough in the tank to finish that one on the sideline..

Tbh we all love his explosive power but ive actually been really happy to see when he plays 80 he shelves the highlight plays and just works and grinds, makes his tackles, does his hit ups and works hard. His numbers are pretty decent for a 19 year old learning his way. Obviously he has all the talent in the world but its so important he develops the work ethic, and what is pleasing is he doesnt shirk the workload and seems to have an attitude for it.

Yet still some try and paint him as a lazy off the ball "Konrad Hurrell" type, which is ridiculous. His off the ball work was evident right from the Vegas game. Yes he'll come up with an error or 2 or drop off the odd tackle, but FFS show me the 19 year old (or 35 year old for that matter that doesnt) people really need to stop confusing errors with "lazy".

How we use him going forward i think is the Eli Katoa/Storm route (obviously playing outside Jahrome Hughes helps) mixture of early ball, hole running with movement off the ball around him, targetting halves, and a weapon under the high ball. The boy's a keeper for sure.

A few random thoughts:

Rocco could be a very good centre. I hope this one is not critical and he gets a sustained run at some point. There is a lot of upside.

Boyd was very good. In some areas better than Metcalf. But in perspective it was the Tigers. Give the man a few more games and see how he preforms under more pressure. But a very very good debut that I hope he is proud of.

Demi is everything that Marata should be. An absolute superstar in the making. Doesn't get the press Leka does which is probably a good thing. But I am looking forward to seeing him for many years to come.

CHT still hasnt proved himself to some punters on here. I dont know what he has to do. There would be very few 6s in the comp I would swap him for. Does his job and does it extremely well. I was happy to see him playing well with Boyd, his career has suffered from taking a back seat to way too many changes at 7.

Audi TT was outstanding and being a huge CNK fan I am now fully in the camp of moving CNK into the centres. The little man has a massive motor and heart. And I hope he can show it every week now.

I was on the fence about TSS but what a cameo off the bench. Another huge prospect for the future.

Overall, the Warriors of old, having lost their 1st choice 1, 10 and 7 would have used that as an excuse. This team hits different. Good 2nd tier recruitment, everyone steps up when required. We may not go deep into the finals but damn the future is promising.
