General Warriors Harold Matthews 2026

He was at the Bulldogs last year didn’t quite kick on there being a year younger. So definitely one to watch
He was carrying an injury. Played in the last game of the season. Bulldogs didn't have a house for the NZ boys either so if they didn't have family in Sydney, it was going to be tough for the Qld and NZ players.

He started out in the Warriors academy and played club and goes to school with a lot of the current Matts boys. Bulldogs didn't want to let him go.

Balchin is the other one that comeback from the Bulldogs started at lock for the ball team. Huggins is the type of player the Australia club’s recruit tall & athletic looks to be a powerful athlete.

Is he a prop long term? Put on a lot more weight/size since last time i seen him play in the second row.

Going to be a tough 4 man prop rotation for Havealeta to break into. All looked pretty good on the weekend.

I don’t think he’s a prop and he’s never played there. He’s still fast enough to play centre.

A very brief review of his game I thought back rower, especially if he’s got good wheels.
His best assets are his speed for his size and offloading game. Plays a similar style to the way Lucien played last year.

12–8 Warriors early, but defensive edges still leaking — déjà vu from last week. Perese-Sukroo and Huggins both producing quality solo efforts to keep us ahead.

20 minutes in and Souths hit back with a long-range try — edge defence caught napping again. Their first scorer with the four-barrel surname causing headaches.

Then a poor error from error from Limu Franklin gifts Souths field position. Scrum 20 out turns into points almost immediately. Scores locked 12-all after 24 minutes — converted 14-12.

Poor play from De Har-Elliott on last tackle 10 metres out he passes to Lafituanai in traffic, and that error is compounded it with a cheap penalty to let Souths out of trouble.

Keanu Simpson with an average chip kick on the hooter, dribbles into touch. Kind of sums up the half. Our halves really need to start clicking, been underwhelming in both games.

Souths score straight after resumption, right side defence is all at sea again, awareness from our fullback Olsen, not knowing where his try line is was both equal parts poor and comical, sideline conversion successful, 20-12!

After a Souths crowd call to the hopeless touch judge for a forward pass is granted, Souths stroll so non-existent defence, conversion missed 24-12. Kick off out on the full. Vete and his players not showing much promise, early days it must be said.

Another try flick pass to rub insult into injury, 28-12. Going to be a long season judging off this performance at home. If it wasn’t for poor goal kicking they’d be closer to 40.

Discipline is poor, another penalty given away, at least restart didn’t go out on the full.

Tackle 5, discipline non-existent, repeat set! 10 minutes left, Souths knock on. Club still not off the mark with a Dub yet!

Bit of razzle dazzle and offloads looked promising until an awful pass from Chris Sau rolls over the touchline.

Try in the corner to Bruce, showed good wheels and nice put down, conversion well short, 28-16, 5 or so to play. We get a penalty off kick off and all momentum lost as Simpson fails to find touch. Souths knock on with line wide open 5 metres out. Olsen shows off his speed with a nice break.

Olsen’s break was a highlight, along with the individual efforts of McGrath-Huggins and Perese-Sukroo for their tries, but overall there wasn’t much cohesion or composure with the ball.

There were some individual positives, though defensively out wide and in game management there’s still plenty to tidy up heading into next week. If I were the 6 and 7, I’d be sweating on team selections.

Cheers for the updates. Slow start to the season in the grades

No attacking shape. 5 hit ups and kick n’ hope. Backs are starved of the ball. Olsen and Bruce showed what the backs can do given a chance.

Might be better to have 13 forwards playing and four forwards on the bench.

Just rumble non stop through the middle in endless rotation of forwards because the halves don't pass to the backs. End of cynical post
