General Warriors Harold Matthews 2026

Watched on highlights after a late start – perspective: it’s only Game 1, but I can’t see a three-peat on that showing. Centres didn’t impress and the fullback looked like a worst-of Reece Walsh reel.

Standouts were Kayce Perese-Sukroo and Rilee McGrath Huggins. TJ will be a big loss for the youngsters, but his move is a huge boost for Flegg’s 2026 chances.

Both halves looked out of sync and the 7 might be dropped next round on that outing.

I’ll add that these bois will not have an issue getting up the field. Kenny and takulua (starting front row) bent the line with most hit ups. Togia and your man Huggins came on and had their moments. Be interesting to see where havealeta fits in this rotation when he’s healthy.
Tusi fanolua had a decent game too, played the whole game and effort was always there.
Was our game to lose with a couple held up over the line efforts but some silly offloads in the last 15 minutes was where we came undone. Surely the big work on at training this week.
Other then the ten minutes where manly scored three quick tries I thought we looked the better team. Good first hit out!

Low percentage offloads were the coach killer, half the team were guilty of it. I can see Havealeta joining bench when he's back, he has raw power but hasn't played much league. Asololei-Fretton will be a massive addition if he's back, that and fixing up the halves play will go a long way to beating Souths who are likely to have two of their best players suspended for next weeks match.

How did Limu-Franklin go on the Wing?
His dad played 1 game of NYC for the Warriors on the Wing back in the day & played for Samoa at one of the Wellington 7s tournaments when it was part of the IRB Circuit

He’s still matts eligible? It’s going to be some pack we’re going to be running out. Kenny, Elia, takulua and fanuloa and fretton…then our monsters off the bench. Still need our halves and outsides to ice all the redzone opportunities that they’re going to have. Didn’t seem to be much attacking direction today, for both teams

Yeah he's eligible.

It's on the halves to get the back five going., they got fk all ball from the halves yesterday, 90% of their touches were hard yards hit ups. Manly's fullback got a ton of ball off of shape from his halves, our fullback got nothing. Our 7 had some really bad misses on D, one that led to a try and other one the fullback was able to save. The centres both shot out of line to grab air numerous times, Manly were waiting for it. Last year's team were more disciplined on D. Boys that shot of the line and wingers that jammed in got dropped

That game was still winnable IMO, poor offloading killed the boys chances. Albert will have aged a year. That's youth footy for you. The Matts team beat themselves, the Ball team was outplayed.

He struggled with the speed of the Manly backs on defence. He supported the fullback for a few good runs but his half didn't know how to straighten up the attack. He and his centre should've switched, IMO, he must be 90 plus kgs and his centre would be 75kgs.

Was his dad the massive wing that would've been 6'3 and 100kgs or more? He might've played for Tony?

Yes, I bumped into him at Auckland Airport yesterday & he mentioned about he & his son both being coached by Iro1000014780.webp

McGrath-Huggins looks to be a handful. Tall and well built for a young g guy.
