There were those Davvy Moale rumours at the end of last year. So it seems there is a desire for a 80-120 game, 23-25 year old to bridge that experience gap.
If we are going to be losing Capewell on top of Niukore and Barnett, then I can see the appeal.
When I saw the rumour this morning it thought hell no. But after considering that Fish and Webby will both know him quite well, and they think he is a good addition, then I don't mind it.

This is the mindset I really want everyone to have once the CHT/Boyd decisions are announced
Yep, those decisions are going to very interesting.
Side effect of having good depth: When a senior/NRL player is released/asks to be released you don't go "Thank EFF!" (See M Lodge, K Evans), you go "Ah, damn, he was/coulda been really good, but I guess if you don't get the oppurtunities..."

Halves are overloaded.

Based on what we have got - I think TMM and Hansen (Had an an option for 2026 I recall) are gone. CHT could be gone if the money on offer is too good.

Jett, Thompson and Linnane will have NSW cup locked down but I suspect first injury that Inch and possibly Tyson Hansen will get call-ups.

Cassius Tia is my ace card if he is fit and firing. Should be playing NRL that guy but it hasn't panned out and now he has disappeared off the scene here. If not an injury then not good signs. Also with our overload of halves I think he would be better suited now to playing centre/Lock.
Injured apparently.

It's big mail but it's not wishy washy. If true, something would materialise quite soon.

He's said he wants to be 7 and we're signing someone else. With our depth too we can afford to let him go.
I don't really trust Aussie journalists when it comes to us. They don't have the same contacts at our club as they do with Sydney clubs. There were so many journalists with "mail" that mets was going to leave us last year before he actually re-signed. So I'll believe it when I see it.

Okay just listened to that Metcalf section. The majority of it is Kent praising Webster for making a decision and rewarding Boyd for performing.

I was thinking it was mainly good clickbait.

I saw some of the comments here and on the video. Right at the end is the "my mail". I don't think he is a journalist. My understanding he's owns a few businesses and is mates with a few journalists and people in the game. Not sure how much mail he would have.

With our history of Australians wanting to head home early. I can understand being nervous when you read/hear these. In the NRL when these start there is often something to them. Also you get a lot of BS rumours.

It would be disappointing to have all of the speculation around him last year. He re-signs the club has shown faith in him with his injury history and then 6-12 months later he wants to leave.

I've kept quiet on all of the halves debate. What I will say is what I said to a colleague recently. Webster has typically brought guys straight back in after injury and has said they didn't lose their spot. Halfback is a bit different as it has such an impact on how the team plays. If we lost all of our games or were 50/50 before Metcalf came back he likely would have come straight in. Instead we won them all. Fair enough Boyd was rewarded.

Further to the above. If Metcalf was a 100-150 game player it would also be a different decision.

The main thing he needs is game time.

Just had a listen too. Is he able to talk to other teams now? It sounds like BS to me.

As weird as it feels to say, I think Met leaving and signing Boyd/CHT is the best outcome
A bit premature from Metcalfs management you reckon? ACL injury out for several months, comes back and injures a hammy. If he has been playing NSW cup for several rounds I could kind of understand it.

Sounds like they are trying to force Websters and the clubs hand which I don’t like.
