Apologies if already posted.

WARRIORS FLYER LINKED WITH NEW CLUB

One of six players at the New Zealand Warriors who remain off-contract at the end of the season, winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak has found himself on the radar of another club.

Recently confirming the arrivals of Grant Anderson (Broncos) and Will Warbrick (Storm), the Warriors are set to make some tough calls when it comes to their outside back stocks, as they won’t be able to keep everyone on their books.

Already losing veteran Roger Tuivasa-Sheck to the Wakefield Trinity in the Super League, they could also now lose Watene-Zeleznaik.

This comes after he has found himself on the radar of NRL’s newest expansion side, the Perth Bears, per Code Sports.

Although he has a mutual option in his contract that would keep him at the Warriors for an extra season, it is unlikely that it will be taken up by the club.

Likely to depart the club at the end of the year, he has scored 66 tries for them in 91 matches since joining them in 2021 after stints with the Bulldogs and Panthers.

---

The interesting part is that the mutual option for 27 is confirmed. So cant see him being here next year either.

Isn't the problem that he can just excercise his option at the lower amount, even though the club will clearly decline their option at the higher amount.

He'll still be here next year unless a club like the Bears offer him enough long term money to make him decline his option here.

He looks to me like a guy that knows he is playing for a good contract, wherever that may be.

I could see him getting a good 2 year deal from the Bears

Agree, but say he picks up an injury or whatever, he's going to exercise that option to stay.

Quite hard to plan around which is probably why the club has been mindful on spending, Anderson/Warbrick/AKP wouldn't be on much compared to RTS/DWZ

I wouldn’t have complained if we got Arthur’s instead of Anderson and I can see the argument as to why some of you would have preferred him largely because he’s a kiwi but there has to be a deeper reason as to why he was so far down the pecking order at the Bronx and that Anderson was ahead of him before he got injured

Also might be good to have a couple of Aussies around long term for the Aussies we desperately want to keep. Building that culture with decent players is important.

seems like very good cap management. If you think they are getting three players, for the cost of two, with good potential to add real value.

He seems like a real Webster signing, highly thought of, super versatile, but not super flashy. Good size and pace.

Thanks for posting the video.

He looks better than I was expecting. I'd say his most off putting feature is he looks like a Dad with a pornstach. But the Warriors barber can fix that - get him in a tanning bed and we can pretend he is Jerome Ropati's son.

We needed a Justin Murphy type of journeyman center signing with a solid full house of core skills, and reviewing those highlights we MIGHT have got what we were after.

I need to see defence tape.

Ok so not gonna get carried away because this ain't that kinda signing, to me it looks like we signed a quicker, more reliable Pompey/Berry and I ain't gonna complain about that. Pleasing to see him read the intercept and survive the length of the field dash vs the Titans speedsters (even with that ten meter head start - Dallin is the only player in this team that makes it all the way).

And pleasing to see we signed a first grader not a depth player. Ali needs that kind of pressure ongoing to stop him reverting to slack Ali.
