Small sample size based on how many games he’s played but Broncos fans are gutted Anderson is leaving.
at 400k a season...

for the record, the small sample size is, 2 games, 5 tackles made, 4 tackles missed, 51 avg metres per game.

That 400k per season is far more than i thought he warranted....i mean hell be 27 later this year, and has really had 2 real seasons in the nrl so far. But then again he would have been crazy to not agree to this deal.

In hindsight i wish we didnt ask for anyone in return lol

203m in 103 minutes is the info on the NRL website so 101.5m pg unless you include games where he was a Reserve

If used only in cup then yes 400k is a huge number for a back up. I don’t think they’ll be looking at him as a back up though. Probably means the end of berrys contract more then likely and is also wing back up. No major injury history either…could have done a lot worse

Don’t come at me, that’s straight from the broncos forum 😂

Good sign is that he’s showed consistent development over the years and is coming from 2 solid systems. Excited to see how he develops under Webby.

Outside back Grant Anderson has agreed terms to join the One New Zealand Warriors on a three-year deal from next season.

The 26-year-old has been secured by the Warriors following negotiations with the Broncos to grant co-captain Mitchell Barnett an early release to join Brisbane next year.

“We’re excited to have Grant on board from next year,” said One New Zealand Warriors general manager recruitment, pathways and development Andrew McFadden.

“He has come out of a great system at Melbourne and now the Broncos and he’ll add real experience to our squad.”

Making his NRL debut in 2022, Anderson amassed 50 appearances and scored 23 tries for the Storm in four seasons before joining the Broncos this year.

“Grant is an accomplished outside back who has plenty to offer,” said One New Zealand Warriors head coach Andrew Webster.

“He gives us depth among our outside backs and will certainly add to competition in the squad.

“We’ll also benefit from the professional attitude he’ll bring after four seasons with the Storm and now being part of the Broncos this year.”

A Newcastle Knights junior, Anderson also has a total 52 Queensland Cup appearances for the Northern Pride, Sunshine Coast Falcons and Wynnum Manly Seagulls.

Well I love the deal cuz more importantly this sets a precedent for future compassionate releases and we get to bolster our weak spots. Some kept saying it’s wishful thinking and fake tough talk.

I don’t know what Berry is on I found a figure of $250K but who knows and we basically get a replica with more experience and doesn’t pop a shoulder by falling, hopefully the knee recovers from that nasty incident tho

He’s got good speed so you won’t see Pompey or TT on the wing for emergency anymore

Edit: Dallin and RTS leaving is freeing up a lot of cash too so wonder what they’re cooking, I’d be contend with the current halves re-signed

I guess the days of us having to overpay for quality Australian's arent over yet.

I dont mind it, the fact that he's (semi) proven himself in a system that's not Melbourne gives me a bit more confidence in him. He was about to cement that starting position before the injury.

You're paying for the upside as well i guess, he's entering his prime years. So he might not be worth 400k now (he definitely isn't) but the way he was tracking this year pre-injury, he had the makings of a quality starter and should be well worth that a couple years in, especially under Webby.

Fixes one more piece to the puzzle that is our underperforming backline.

I was quite impressed with Anderson in a small handful of Storm games I watched. That is a very phallic tattoo on his arm!

Surely there is a big play coming. Yes, we'll need to spend to lock up our up and coming talent on longer term deals, but there must be a decent kitty for only a very, very small amount of spots.

We get money back in the deals from each of DWZ, Niukore, RTS and Barnett vs their equivalents.

(Same as nrl) looks like their stats is broken, the career by season/career overall for avg metres for broncos is not aligned.

With Anderson joining us it would Be interesting what the storm forum was saying about him leaving for the Broncos.
Was it like damn we lost one here or thank God he is gone.

I found this as the storms release to Broncos.

Storm player #222, Anderson made his NRL debut in Round 14 2022, crossing for two tries in a memorable performance as Craig Bellamy’s team defeated the Sydney Roosters at the SCG.

The Newcastle-born centre has since impressed throughout his time in purple, crossing for 22 tries from 36 games, including ten tries from his 12 appearances this season.

Storm General Manager of Football Frank Ponissi thanked Anderson for his service and commitment to the Club.

“Grant has been an outstanding representative of Melbourne Storm over the past few seasons,” Ponissi said.

“He’s a great example of a player who has made the most of every opportunity, working his way through our feeder system with the Sunshine Coast Falcons, before earning his place in the NRL side
