And I know we want a different body shape to what the club has. But Te Kura is ridiculously big. 6ft9 120 plus kilos and still growing. Not sure about his agility and speed at that size. Have hardly seen him play.

What would you offer CHT $$ wise.

The last year he's played like one of the best 6's in the comp and started 2026 off really well. Another 2 or 3 games like this and I think his asking price is going to sky rocket. I feel it's an extremely tricky situation - we have a bunch of great halves coming through, but its very unlikely any of the rookies are going to emulate what CHT is doing in their first year, so were going to be in net loss situation potentially.

For me, I'm a bird in hand kinda guy. Id offer a 2 year contract to CHT and make the younger guys earn it and take the 6 jumper off him.

I haven’t seen the panthers mentioned as a club interested in Barney but we have a pretty good relationship with them….

Most likely option is Barnett signs elsewhere for 2027 and we just use his $$$ to balance and improve the squad a bit more.

Trying to force a player swap is more likely to drag this out longer, and force us to accept a player that isn't really that good.

Don’t wanna be the guy with strings on white board but Barney’s rumor has been around last year pre-ACL and post injury Riki pops up at Mt Smart during a bye, and now Barney asks for release for his kid and Broncos rumored to make an offer and kiwi players….

Maybe he’ll be the “blindside” signing? Unless we use their offer to push other clubs for a raise, like KP and Newcastle

I wouldn’t mind him in his prime as our prop with 2 GF experiences but we should make them give us Arthars to plug that centre hole, I thought he was our best back during the covid years, or Mariner

Anyway I think this one is in the works for a while
