Nah haven't seen anything yet, last year they announced squads on the 21st so may see squads released next week.

Sio Kali is on a train and trial this year apparently.

Development contract wasn't extended.

Could impress during the offseason and earn back a development contract (few spots there) but seems unlikely given he still hasn't come back from his last injury by the looks of it.

Seems like a great buy low opportunity for another club. If I'm the Bears im signing him to a top 30 deal for their inaugural season right this second.

So confirmed development contracts so far are Jett Cleary, Luke Hanson and Caelys Putoko.

Yeah well they obviously believe in Putoko reaching his ceiling moreso than Kali.

Hard to blame them, injuries have kind of forced their hand.

I think Kali will still get his opportunities this year. He'll essentially be this year's MGT; no top 30 contract but an instant selection in NSW cup when fit.

Awesome. I sort of expect Boyd to be gone by mid season TBH, but the only way that would happen is if these young boys put their hands up.

I agree 100%. Been saying this for a while too. Good opportunity for him while Metcalf is out but there's no doubt in my mind he's getting pushed out by the transfer deadline.

Patrick Moimoi was also rated around here but wonder whether the same applies? Some seem like they need to leave comforts or negative elements in their life to succeed

Interesting takes on Boyd. For him to get released, we’d need a back-up halfback plan - and I’m not sure we have a strong one. Boyd was rated over TMM, Hansen/Linnane seems better suited as a five-eighth, Cleary could be a punt but a big one. I thought CHT would go OK as an emergency option, but Webby seems loath to move him.
That all said, if Boyd gets a contract for next year if he could get an immediate release, would the Wahs be ruthless enough to say ‘no’???

Webby dead-set must be one of the absolute best coaching communicators out there. No muddling or metaphors, just legit authentic feedback but delivered in way where the player knows where they stand but still know the coach is behind them, and the media gets a decent response. Just masterful.
