"standout among his peers" can be anything from "could be an Immortal one day" to "better than most of the players who his team haven't picked for NSW Cup/U21s/U19s 'because they're deemed not deserving of selection."
Just watch when Metcalf's comeback is delayed by one week. "Warriors in disarry and Premiership hopes in tatters as Metcalf left out of team for Round 8 game"
The title implies he's just a standout because he's maybe fatter and taller than normal...

Pommy backpacker walking along a back country road in Australia when he sees a bull attacking a youg aussie kid. He jumps the fence and gets between the bull and the child and kills it wifh his pocket knife saving the child. When interviewed by the local paper it comes out he is english. The newspaper headline was 'pommy bastard kills chilfs pet'.

I’ve watched more NSW Cup and junior footy than half these ‘experts’ combined and I’ve never heard of this bloke. Not one standout game. This is peak pig-headed, dumb-as-dogshit Aussie journalism.

The source? The Mole. That’s when you know it’s cooked — makes Phil Slothchild look half respectable.

Move along… as if this random kid is the contingency plan for Koloamatangi 🤣🤣🤣
I’ve seen him play. Not the goods.

Was a worthwhile punt from the club and I like the thinking as he’s tall.

But yeah more than likely that he wasn’t offered a contract and forced to move to Aus.

Wish I could disagree but that is the most likely headline. 👍👍👍

I see the Harold Matts rookie of the year resigned for 3 years;

Looks like a gritty player from some of his highlights, seems to enjoy the contact.
I was at his former primary school yesterday with a bunch of kids & mentioned his name to encourage them to make the most of their opportunities. Definitely not one of the very best kids I've taught in terms of natural ability but was highly coachable, enthusiastic & I think has benefitted greatly from trying lots of different codes (Boxing & Ice Hockey amongst others).
I must've meet him when he was 7 years old & he'd proudly wear a Manly Sea Eagles backpack

It’ll be interesting with Gannon- I don’t see him starting round one but I do think they have a plan for him.
They’ve obviously seen something in his game that they like, something that provides a point of difference.
They didn’t recruit him on a whim but there’s some competition there so if he’s good enough to crack it we’ve got a good one.
I think he is seen as a long term lock option in the mould of Tohu/Dylan Walker. He's played 4 games at five eighth for Leeds, so must have good hands/awareness for a bigger guy to be picked there.

I'm guessing that Erin Clark probably exceeded everyone's expectations in that role last year. Add in Demi and looks like we have options there in a critical position for the style of attack we have. From memory when Tohu started to break down in 2024, we went through a period of winning when he played and losing when he didn't (appreciate he was also captain and banging out 70+ minutes too, so not just his attacking impact we missed)
