Recruitment Warriors 2026/2027 Recruitment & Retention

Nek minnit - linked with Australia for the RU WC to push up his price.

I honestly haven't seen any sign of him not being stoked to play for our club and live in NZ. He always looks and sounds like he is living his dream.
despite the disappointing end to the season, we're a team on the up. He can see that he can be part of something really special here. Beats getting abuse Galvin style at a bottom tier Sydney club with limited path to success. Maybe I'm naive but I think the overall direction that our club is taking will count for something.

TT is the full back going forward.
His detractors can only point to one thing.
He gets rag dolled.
To be fair, not often and no more so than Kini, Iongi, Walsh, Papanhuizen etc.
When he has played first grade he has always been a point of difference and in an attacking and points scoring way.

I like TT - as a back up. He's not the answer going forward.

There's more than one reason and unfortunately he can't touch any of the other guys you mentioned.

I don't see where the answer is on our current roster.

I mean even if he get rag dolled Roger makes up 250m anyway, risk reward ratio is a no contest with his speed and ball play

Remember that Leka long range try vs tigers he was the one choosing the right side to attack too, Charnz will just do another hit up and we lose by 6

I am on the Taine train but am intellectually intimidated by the Taine gets rag dolled team as there are some heavy hitter posters on that team.

Does make the potential interest in Chevy Stewart and where they would play him an interesting proposition? From all accounts he’s not quite ready but preferred position is fullback

What is the evidence for TT improving the attack? He had a good run of games there when CNK was at centre but couldn’t prove a point of difference. As said above he is good back up player but not in the class of the young fullbacks coming through at other clubs

Hard to see who has an opening if he's wanting a clear shot at a FB spot from the start.

Sharks if they don't re-sign Kennedy.

Dragons are in the same boat as us with an established FB who will probably hold his spot in the short term.

Yeah sharks is good shout. Think that’s his junior club?

Off topic but why is centre such a poor performing position? Is it because it isn't high paid and hard to do? Outside of the top 3 or 4 in the comp noone else gets you excited

Cool no let's look a their running metres and other important fullback stats instead of your posting the ones that suit your agenda. I think CNK needs to go now, he's too slow but you are completely discrediting his strengths here.
And he’s obviously a big part of the leadership group and very close with JFH. Just feels a bit like his time at raiders where he had massive seasons when he got there and plateaued a bit

We don't have great play makers in the halves or FB which is an issue, centres are forced to completely create for themselves.

I think TMM could help here but previously not being a fan Pompey, he has dropped his error rate and I think needs to be one centre, he can step, offload and defend. But with him we need a strike centre....we have not had many strike centres....Hurrell at his best sure but even Brent Tate here was good in many ways but not a strike centre.

It's a difficult position to master ... RTS, a great league player struggled.....due to the required skill on both offence and defence....Laumape the big what if....but that's not relative to now. Berry I thought was the one but his injuries are slowing him down and more importantly hampering his development.

I also rate Ali but he seems to have more trouble than Berry staying on the pitch. I do wonder if Leka is the answer? More space for him to run at defenders 1 v 1 and create chances.....good enough defender and we have a number of quality young 2nd rowers like Laban coming through.

Kennedy has some really bad moments and at times can have a real shockers, but I think overall he'd provide big improvement attack wise.

On attack Kennedy seems willing to throw the ball around and try and find his winger. Would be a great attribute if we had AKP on the wing to capitalize on that.

Charnz had a try rate of 0.2 per game, 0.2 try assists and 0.2 line break assists where combined, Kennedys stats for those were 0.3, 0.5 and 0.5. Which works out to 4 extra line breaks/tries/try assists every 5 games.

I'm not saying he's the difference between us winning and losing a comp, but imo he's better than what we have available right now, AND he's available next year. Wouldn't command huge money either.
big no from me - last night first 3 storm tries pretty much a result of Kennedy being woefully out of position, defending in the line when he should have been sweeping behind - something is up with his footy smarts
