That comparison is:
Metcalf 1W-3L with his opponents being the Broncos, Panthers, Raiders and Sharks with an average scoreline of 20.3 points scored & 20 points against.
Boyd went 4W-5L against Tigers, Knights, Titans (x2), Dolphins, Dragons, Eels, Manly and Panthers with an average of 20.9 points pg scored & 19.8 against.

The strength of opponent makes the comparison all but obsolete however

Panthers B team on our home patch and the Broncos away game were fairly poor performances from Metcalf though.

You would have to say we looked a lot better against the full strength Panthers in the finals than we did against their B team earlier wouldn't you? Is that a fairer comparison?

My understanding is it was more a lack of opportunity and we saw the Sharks attitude in not releasing a Cup player early.
IMO (note this is only an opinion) is that he has skin in the game here and will get a decent pay day and stay

Touché. Tbh I was literally on a deserted island when that first game occurred so I'm not the person to ask but you're right, despite 8 internationals, that Penrith team was well below full strength

Bit rough to add a half played game to the stats. We were only 8 down with 15 mins left when he went down, so who knows.

According to the daily telegraph from what buzz had "heard" that would be correct at the time. Later recounting on leaving the club metcalf is quoted “I always just wanted someone to show me a bit of love and back me as a player.”. So i honestly don't think it is so black and white.

I think just looking at results is often misleading, though ultimately it's what it is all about. There are so many variables. Like our Broncos win. We didn't play well at all, Walsh couldn't move, let alone run and we got very lucky with some calls. But on the results column it shows as a win against the premiers.

Doesn’t really matter when they decided it, they communicated it when he went to them asking for another 50k and they said no.
