Valentine Holmes has signed a two-year deal with the New Zealand Warriors. He has requested a release from his last year at the Dragons on compassionate grounds.

Talking to the Sydney Morning Herald on Wednesday night, a tearful Holmes thanked the St.George fans and coaching staff for their understanding of the situation, siting how much he loved his aunty Helen growing up and wants to honour her by playing out the rest of his NRL career at the Warriors before heading to the Superleague to join Hull KR in 2029.

"I'm not leaving the club because of the bad start we're experiencing at the moment. The future looks bright for the Dragons. Dean has a great plan moving forward with young Reedo and a host of other gun juniors you're about to see soon. - Wayne Regal, Sydney Morning Herald.

He'd go with my blessing. He's another who earned his Fg call up. Good team player. No complaints. Honest toiler. I'd be happy for him to stay equally. I'd prefer to keep him but Chanel and Thompson would be my next priorities. Linnane and Cleary are signed for next year.

I'd only keep TMM if he's keen to be a third stringer and play for cheap.

Accidently post your fan fiction or something?

This morning I was wondering what the deal was with him.

Must be a hella logjam at NSW cup level eh.
He is injured as I understand it. He arrived here with heavy strapping on his leg. I take it the Warriors are going to do what they always do, fix his leg before they throw him back in there. We seem to have a lot of patience for that kind of thing. Metcalf, Linane, etc.

It's pretty nice to know that if a quality player did hit the open market, as they tend to, that we have the resources for a no-fuss signing. Like a Herbie...

Dreams huh!

The thing is we have more money than spaces on the roster, which leads away from the moneyball signings Webby is known for. At the very least it could be a couple of very solid acquisitions. I don't think they will be quite ready to eave the back up half position unfilled though. TMM won't be enough for the club imo, and the younger guys are too far away yet.

Everyone seems to have forgotten about Cassius Tia. Perhaps we are going to upgrade him if the Hanson thing is true.
I was literally just thinking about him earlier. They may be clearing the decks to bring Cassius into the fulltime squad. I just wonder if it would be at 6 or not.

Kid can play! while not proven at NRL level he has a lot more tricks in the bag than most!

Anyone that can kick 40/20s in the Juniors needs to be taken very seriously by the Warriors. As you are aware he can basically play center too.
He is a unit, could make a special ball playing center for the Warriors. Webster likes a multitool kinda guy.

He is a unit - he would also make a very dynamic lock/Utility when Clark is having a spell

So if we are trying to get a player in return for Metcalf, which I suspect could be happening behind closed doors. Who would we actually be interested in from the Dragons?.
Maybe a gun junior because I don’t see a lot in first grade that intrigues me
