Okay so at this point in time and at face value (altho i didnt have an issue with team Mets seeking clarification.....didnt seem the dick move others are making it out to be to me) we have both Mets and Tannah locked up long term wanting the 7 gig.

Things become a lot simpler now......its just purely a form game.

At the moment Tannah and CHT are it, have the current runs on the board and the team is flying.....unless that form falls off a cliff or injury.....then its up to Luke to produce at the level where he re-cements his spot.

Just the wait and see game now, see how the season plays out.....i know most are now heartily entrenched in team Tannah atm but id imagine a few losses might see those convictions waver (peeps change their views more than their underwear around here ;))

Little bit concerned tho if we're locking up that much of our cap in 2 players where (unless someones ready to shift) one wont be playing each week

BENNETT WANTED TANAH TIME

Tanah Boyd has spurned the chance to return to Australia despite interest from Wayne Bennett’s Rabbitohs as he puts the final touches on a contract extension with the Warriors.

One of the NRL’s best players so far this season, Boyd is on the cusp of signing a new multi-year deal to stay across the Tasman. Barring an 11th-hour hitch, the Warriors are expected to confirm it soon.

The 25-year-old has revived his career in New Zealand with a series of fantastic performances, which even attracted the attention of master coach Bennett.

South Sydney registered an interest in bringing Boyd to Sydney and reuniting him with old Titans teammate David Fifita, but the former Australian Schoolboy wants to remain with the Warriors.

Zero mention of $$$ or the details of the contract.. or even how much the rabbits were offering. Im thinking hes taking unders. Possibly a mutual option so he could break and sign elsewhere should the figure be great enough. ie Bears or PNG throw him a whopper.

I'd say that'd be a fair deal for both parties knowing we have Mets in the back for stability.

reported in aus newscorp papers (i have a cairns post subscription) don't like this at all...

CHANEL NO.1 YEAR

Gun Warriors half Chanel Harris-Tavita has always been one to do things his own way, and the off-contract star is bucking the trend again by telling NRL clubs he only wants to sign a 12-month deal.

At a time when good playmakers can almost write their own ticket and be locked down for years, the 27-year-old’s preference is to sign his next contract for just 2027.

Haris-Tavita’s management has already made contact with the PNG Chiefs, but the NRL’s 19th franchise moved quickly to make the blockbuster signing of Jarome Luai as their foundation player, meaning Harris-Tavita’s preferred five-eighth spot is already taken.

Samoan international Harris-Tavita took a one-year sabbatical to travel the world in 2023, but has since reestablished himself as one of coach Andrew Webster’s most important attacking weapons.
