A social post denial would be ideal from the warriors or metcalf PR team, news cycle runs for 72 hours and it’s almost out and no denial. Might have to wait till team naming to have reporters ask webby directly about it. Not life and death but PR savvy staff paid to do this would usually deal with it swiftly

So someone said RNZ asked and it was no comment from the club?
maybe the idea is to not give fuel to the fire and hope this all blows away within a week once we get to magic round. Already this story is getting sidelined by other headline stories regarding Sydney clubs. I don't even think they discussed it on 360.

Asking for some clarification isn't a wild thing to do, for anyone in any job - if that is all it is. What is a bit strange is that surely he could get clarification from Webby just by having a chat with him.

From Metcalf's perspective I would've thought Tanah Boyd's form would actually be a positive. Boyd is the more natural 7, has a better kicking game, better organiser. Metcalf has a better running game. Takes pressure off him coming back into the side, not being responsible for guiding the team around the park. He'd also be the first person blamed if we start losing.

He's still on the same $$, if it was me I'd be stoked. Jarome Luai for example is hardly a lesser player or less attractive to other clubs because he plays 6. I dunno what the obsession with 7 is.

Nah I posted that RNZ stated there was no comment from the club. Nothing to do with them actually confirming they had asked the club.

By now there will be enquiries by NZ media because the Aussie media have managed to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

As for the club issuing a statement? They are smack bang in the middle of two contract negotiations for their form halves, any statement by the club at this stage just feeds the circus.

Better to say nothing and get the CHT and Tanah Boyd contract negotiations done.

Then say something about Metcalf if it is even relevant.

I imagine that Webster being who he is, will be disappointed in Metcalf if he did get his agency to leak this story.

We all know that Andrew Webster would have already had the conversation with Metcalf. Before team naming Tuesday last week. He would have made it clear how things are.

One thing Andrew Webster has been quoted saying for years is "we have had conversations, we are talking with it other, I am happy with where things are at" (he has said this at post team pressers for several players that are up for contract).

I am imagining the Club making a statement now before they have options locked in, and Metcalf's people pulling the compassionate release plug....

wot a colossal fook up that would be.

Is there a way Mehcalf comes out of this in a good light?
Not at the moment, and that’s why I’m hesitant to think it’s been leaked from his party? At the moment he comes across to many I’m reading around the place as dropping his lip in many ways when he’s in no position to be demanding with his history of injury

Leaking to force the Warriors hand to make a decision

Yeah it is stupid, it is like no one has ever heard of Wally Lewis, Darren Lockyer, or Laurie Dally, or Brad Fittler, Benji Marshal even.

7 has been the thing since Andrew Johns was proclaimed the GOAT.

I'm not a professional player and never have been but I know that if I was a stand off and needed to drive the team I could and would do it.
