Recruitment Warriors 2026/2027 Recruitment & Retention

I'd go a bit further and say that the consistent teams when it comes to the key stats ie completions, possession, running meters, errors, penalties conceded etc on top of a strong defense give themselves the best chance of getting to the finals. The thing that is just as important if you want to realistically challenge for the title is the ability of your attack to be able to break down defenses as well and be able to score points. We simply didn't have that all year. Its no surprise that the two teams with a strong defence AND the best attack have made the GF.
Surely a factor not lost on the powers that be when it comes to end of the season review?

Ranked 12th out of 17 teams it was evident (even with Luke in the team) attack was limited. Ill be interested to see how they go about addressing this wether thats through recruitment or maybe a philisophical shift(less grind more offload game maybe)

That said grind, high completions, and discipline are attributes that have been largely lacking through most of Warriors history and we needed those KPI's embedded in our DNA if we even wanted to get on the same playing field as the top outfits, i feel Webby's by and large acheived that hence im all on board with what he's done with the club thus far. But yes evolving and unlocking a threatning attacking game will be his next challenge as an evolving coach himself i guess.

With it being mentioned of our limited amount of wingers, do people rate this guy? Looking at his stats when at panthers and to here, he’s progressed quite well and has a decent strike rate. Potentially other players favoured over him for only appearing in 10 games? One thing I remembered from preseason was he had a great read from the wing and put a good shot on. Looking at Casey McLean’s instagram, I think he goes out with a relation of his?

Im not sure. I mean it was pretty evident all season like you say. Even the last 12 games he could have made changes. Identifying it is one thing, doing something about it is another. Saying they realise Egan needs to be managed better with game time this season and then playing him until he broke is a perfect example. i get the feeling AW is very much a pick and stick kind of guy which is a problem when things aren't going the best or you need to adapt.

We need to change something there. We had a very favourable draw this year and it's only a couple of those close wins turning into losses next season and we are struggling to make the 8.

Raiders youngster Chevy Stewart arrested, charged by police over alleged incident

The fullback will face court on November 6.

Young Canberra Raiders fullback Chevy Stewart has reportedly been arrested and charged by police over an alleged incident at a Cronulla venue last Friday

The fullback, who has been linked with a move to the St George Illawarra Dragons in recent weeks, is alleged to have poured alcohol into a gaming machine at Cronulla nightclub Northies last Friday.

He has been permitted to explore his options elsewhere in the NRL, given his path to first grade is blocked by Kaeo Weekes, and the fact that he could leave the Raiders is not linked to the incident.

While his on-field future is uncertain, News Corp is reporting the alleged incident, which he was charged over, caused significant damage, and a police statement confirmed he will face court on November 6.

"About 10pm on Friday, police were called to a business on Elouera Rd, Cronulla, following reports a man had damaged property," NSW Police said in a statement.

"Officers attached to Sutherland Shire Police Area Command attended and were told a man had allegedly poured alcohol into one of the gaming machines, causing significant damage.

"The 20-year-old man was arrested and issued a Court Attendance Notice for malicious damage. He is set to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Monday, 6 November 2025.

"The man was also issued a move-on direction from the premises, which was complied with."

The NRL have also confirmed they are aware of the incident, with the Integrity Unit now investigating.

Stewart, who has played four games for the Raiders, has been a noted talent in the Raiders' pathway for some time, having played for New South Wales in junior Origin.

His form at NSW Cup level throughout 2025 had other clubs knocking on the door, and it was after Kaeo Weekes was re-signed for the second time in 12 months that he asked for a release from the Raiders, which the club are prepared to give him prior to the end of his current deal if he can locate a new club.
