Didn't CHT improve towards the end? I'm sure I remember a 40 20 or 2 from him.

EDIT: officially tipping my hat into the CHT fanclub so I can come back gloat .
His Pakuranga jaguar pedigree should account for something. Btw has anyone from the jaguars ever made it big?

Volkman has a good kicking game. Great organising half. Great footy brain for a young man. Cht is a great defender, good hole runner, Always in support of his ball playing forwards. .Above average short kicking game.

Hope they all crack it. But for now, I fail to see how Metcalf has the most upside? Upside down cos he gets run over all the time maybe.

I hate xmas. I hate the crowds & i hate ending up broke at the end of it. The cranky pants are pulled right up the anuks. Don't mind me..

Makes you wonder? The more when you consider that Volkman had 2 years remaining in his current deal with us, it seems strange to sign somewhere else for 1 year without any fanfare from the club to say he’s been released. Has to be on loan?

I think loan players are often a win win, for obvious reasons. Gives a talented player more experience at a higher level and another club cover in a position that they are lite on.
Question who are we replacing him with?

Is releasing Volkman an opportunity to give Kalani Going a contract? With Sifakula a late starter, & the fact he played predominantly in the middle during 2023, are we light on edge forwards if both Barnett & Niukore are training mainly as middles? Laban is in there but you'd think as it stands Going is better equipped for the NRL

CHT long kicking improved out of sight in his last season with us. Pretty sure he got more 40/20’s than SJ

If we could sign a dominant middle immediately everything would just fall into place.
It would make us legit contenders for 24 and relieve the pressure to replace afb for 25 and we’d still have a million dollars to play with.
That would be the greatest Xmas pressie ever

That'll be less than 7 months post surgery. Maybe he does possess those Wolverine powers someone mentioned earlier in the week.
Ale took 10 months, as did Tohu. 3 different stages of their careers obviously, but the club has tended to err on the side of caution with return to play.

Having a think about Chanel's last stint, he had Mooks for most of it, hardly the most innovative halves coach, then bloody Browny tinkering around with a makeshift nomad squad struggling for players. Then Stacey for 6 weeks trying to put some pride back in a demoralised jumper.

Hasn't been the best environment for CHT to excell, so it's hard to judge his ceiling. He could surprise us all, Webby appears to see something in him a lot of us don't. I know less now than I did before I started thinking, happens every time.

Kane Williamson did his ACL in May and played the world cup in October. Although it's different sports and workloads, it's crazy how these guys do rehab these days.

It took me 12 months to properly recover from my ACL surgery. Shows how much better rehab resources pros have access to.

I agree with the decision to cut Volkman. It will not come back to haunt us. Got to make these calls over players. Frees up a spot in our 30. And he was the 5th ranked half here so wasn't going to play.

Very valid points bro, they all point to why he took a year off too……he’s got the goods but needs the right environment, coach and team to spark him up again
