Titans vs Warriors - [Round 16, 2024]
GAME DAY

2021 NRL Round 1 vs Titans 015.jpg

Welcome to your NZWF game day thread for todays clash.

This thread will be locked following the final whistle with or without warning. Discussion will then be shifted to the POST MATCH thread.

UP THE WAHS!!!

I fear that anything other than a convincing win is going to be a problem for us moving forward.

Convincing win = turned the corner and potentially those issues that have been discussed arent accurate and there is hope for the rest of the year
Ugly win = issues and unlikely to get changes
Loss = issues and pressure mounting and still unlikely to be changes

So, I'm hoping for a convincing win because anything else means the rest of the season is cooked and we have a solution that was provided by our 3 wins in a row that won't be used.

So hard to tell the form of every team and how that should translate into the result. Last night was an example of two teams we’ve played recently playing each other, the dolphins who we beat with a talked about “B or C” team of ours playing them as many described at the time and the storm who we largely kept with but circumstances pushed the result out further than the game deserved in the score line. Dolphins showed they weren’t an easy beat when we took them judging by last nights performance and how they took the storm right to the end of the game. Hasler would be confident being that earlier when we played them, they were played into a bit of form by us in the following weeks. We shouldn’t lose any confidence after our performance last week and this should be a good test of whether that resilience that had worked its way back to us has remained

Just like the last Titans game, it's almost like our season counts on this. The Titans, although last have improved and our weaknesses imo, are too big for someone like Hasler not to exploit.
Knowing our luck we will play them back into form. They have hit rock bottom again losing to the bunnies who at the time were last and the the tigers who leap frogged them last week.

This comp is faaaarked tho really...

Cowboys were one of, if the not top attacking team when we played them a few weeks ago and absolutely dicked them with our defence, then we score enough points against the top team Storm, but our defence was poor.

Quite simply, you can't make the top 4 if you lose twice to the Titans in the round robin. We have to win today or well be fighting it out with about 6 other teams to scrape in to the 8.

I think well win by about 14, but I think we'll be up for a bit before we fall off a cliff and let them back in again (probably taking the lead) before we pull away. Kini and Campbell to have at least 2 tries between them

Edit: no Brimston, JoJo Fifita, Haas, Fotueka or Tino....surely we give them a decent spanking today

If Sutton could see out of both eyes are probably (not definitely defence out wide was still poor) on a 4 game winning streak, and are talking about putting 40 on them.

Think it’s pretty hard to run up a score this season unless the opposition just Dosent show up.

But we have our first choice spine and middle rotation which should more than enough, a winger (who makes his share of defensive errors anyway) and an edge back row being out isn’t enough of an excuse.

Johnson usually flogs the titans.

Imagine walker goes to lock, Tohu to prop and ford to edge at kickoff.

It’s a shame to move ford away from the middle but putting walks in a position he Dosent play don’t make a lot of sense.

Only positive I can see is the titans can't qualify for finals I think so there motivation may not be high
