Big effort game.
Our bench were excellent and the energy levels went up when they came on especially Leka and Vaumanga.
Stoked for Ed considering the grief he gets on here, Clark is a weapon.
How frustrating was it when the Tigers would score against the run of play to keep them in the game.
Great to see offloading in the tackles, it’s creating some excellent opportunities.

It was unequivocally a penalty. Maybe CNK's theatrics are a bit distasteful but the decision was correct. Tigers fans bitching about it can pound sand.

I can't get over how pissy Benji was in the presser - as if they we reffed out of the game, couldn't be less true - compare that to how AW answered the question about the Luai high shot - proud of our club for that sort of attitude actually

That blues 14 jersey is looking interesting with the decline of Connor Watson.

Have to say the halves worry me a little - there are mitigating factors though: weirdly I don't think we can underestimate the loss of the senior outside backs, while their role is not directly linked to attacking shape the confidence of having them there on the end of movements sets after set must contribute something to the inside vision or lack thereof... also in respect of this there was Walker leaving: I thought there was an interesting comment by AW pre-game when asked about covering his role, saying that the halves would have to step up in the middle portion of the game and it kinda happened exactly like that, with the egan - cht - metcalf try happening after half time - notably after they'd had a break and had time to re-group and probably re-focused on that strategy - shows the nerves are definitely still there for Metcalf in particular, he does need time there and support - showing enough at this point but you'd hope he'd start running things himself soon

I do agree with this. I also get the impression that AW is trying to make things simple for the young halves by designing a very simple gameplan without an elaborate attacking shape like Manly and Melbourne that can be executed relatively smoothly.

Arguably the most consistent period during our recent history where we achieved sustained success was the pre-SJ Cleary period of 2006-2010. We had a tough pack led by seasoned warriors (Price/Wiki/Luck/Rapira, etc) but a series of unheralded young Aussie spines (Rovelli/Fein/Witt/Gatis/Henderson, etc) who came to us looking for an opportunity in first grade. They were able to succeed on the back of a really simple gameplan not too dissimilar to how we play today built around forward dominance and second phase play that lacked any real attacking shape other than "pass it to Manu". I feel as though this is what AW is trying to build as well for this year. Maybe instead of pass it to Manu, it will be pass it to Ali/Leka and let them wreak havoc.

Didn’t see it but can understand it. Relative rookie coach, ex player, bit of an emotional guy and riding the wave of his team.

Wouldn't be surprised if both teams go beyond critic expectations this season.
Tough game that we won.
Metcalf is Rocks and diamonds as a 7.
Once he gets used to handling the pill more and organizing his team with patience he could become something great,he just needs to take his chances and learn or bust.
Like how Metcalf doesn't drop his head and keeps trying.

For tigers, finishing above 16th would amount to beating expectations and lead to the NRL media calling them the miracle of 2025. For us, anything short of a spectacular season like 2023 will lead to the same talking pt of us being an inconsistent Houdini act.

I don’t know man, we saw what the call up did to Barney’s game/confidence and even Capewells. Could take his game to yet another level
