I give him a pass for 2024- as he was signed very late and didn't have a full pre-season with the squad. The more time he's spent with us, he's only gotten better. He definitely deserves his origin spot.
Capewell was playing through a bunch of injuries in his last year with the Broncos and again with us in his first year 2024.

Last year he was largely fit, that's the real Capewell.

Capewell is one of our best players both sides of the ball....reason he's been so successful and a guy they bring in to the Queensland Origin team so much.
How the hell did VB hard earned goes to Fish LOL

Ford literally was playing like AFB+Barney combined - top meter eater at 219M from 22 runs at 5 post contact metre per run and top tackler at 28 and top minute with 70min straight 🤣

He should be getting 6 DM points
There are some people here saying Ford was shite 🤦🏻 he was outstanding.

Capewell is some player though honestly.

I feel you can tell a lot about a team in the first 3 weeks, as the preseason conditioning sets you up for the season.

To me we are fitter again but what impresses me most is the sharpness and reaction time from each player. It’s the Bellamy secret sauce - all his players are super sharp with super fast reflexes which when played out across a game make a massive influence in the outcome as winning minor moments accumulate.

It comes through in higher completions, freak passes sticking, getting a hand on a player in defence where previously you wouldn’t, things just look easier because your operating at a slightly faster speed. It also hopefully results in less injuries!

My big picture take away from the game is we have the conditioning and sharpness that’s been missing in the past and is needed to get to the very top level.

We may win and lose some games and form go up and down but the underlying player conditioning Webby has set us up with is seriously exciting.

On the roosters: I thought the roosters were a typical first round team - sluggish, rusty with errors and lack of combinations. We simply blew them away by being ahead of the curve in season preparation. Our forward pack dominated theirs in fitness. This compounded as we got more and more possession.

That had some rough calls and a lot of bad luck. If a few of their almost tries went the other ways, the game could have played out quite different…

They will improve over the season and be genuine contenders.

DCE and Walker looked to both be hybrid 7’s with neither dominant. I feel Walker needs to be given the reins and DCE’s signing could be a mistake.

What were the rough calls you refer to?

They seem too similar, think they need to make a tough call and go Walker and Savala. Few times they were caught in the same position on the field on the last, trying to get the ball 😂
In defence of their halves, I feel we dominated them in the forwards and play the ball really limiting their half options.

DCE has a lot of pressure on him as the high profile saviour of the club.

Was fascinating to see how the Roosters discipline crumbled. A number of the superstars fully expected everything to fall their way, particularly with the ref. Who had a kinda okay game, there were some lengthy play of the balls when we got tackled.

Players like Tedesco and Walker really lost it at some points, and not sure I like how much pressure is being tolerated that the refs get put under.

After a bit of time to digest i just think we played our typical style of Webby ball game, nothing flash (odd to say after scoring 40 points) just hard mahi in the middle, dominate possession n territory, to give us enough chances down their end,,,,which we were good enough to convert.

The Chooks discipline was appalling really......and played right into our hands. They just looked too impatient and didnt seem to want to get into the grind with us. I mean they have threats all over the park and did look like they could bust open at anytime....their constant errors and lack of discipline (31 negative play moments to our 9) meant they never gave themselves any chance.

Said before the game controlling the ruck will be key, and our middle 3rd did it far better. Fish, Ford (my MOTM) and Erin Clarke 500 metres between them, there's barely 300 (and most of that attributed to Naufahu Whyte).

Few other takeaways.....Dallins obviously been working on D, few times there when they spread was noticeable he was sliding out, wasnt tempted to jam in early. Meanwhile his centre partner Ali? Damn boy......your a 6 foot 4 monster stop being tentative.....drop a shoulder and fold someone.....enough with the arm grabs. He's just made every other teams tip list of where to attack. Happy for Tannah, controlled things well enough....missing a kick in front gives me a bit of yips tho. Egan classy, Rog, Charmze and Dal....made for Webby ball.

Great win really.....any win till Barney and Lukey back is a bonus in my books
