Here we go again. Always stated it was worth 10 in the bin. Not a send off. A sendoff in the 7th min is a lot harsher penalty than in the 60th min. A sinbin is essentially the sane punishment unless its after the 70 min mark.

That killed the game. Everyone knew that nsw could not win at that point.

As a grass roots referee who only gets one look at it there are no mitigating factors.

My thoughts.
Why in such an important game do something that ends up being at the discretion of the referee knowing he has to make a decision in the heat of the moment with no opportunity to reverse his decision on reflection

I suspect the Bunker looked at it too and agreed.
For player safety and future proofing our game plus adherence to the rules this is a send off at any level.
Like you John I played in an era where square ups were allowed and punching an opposition player who was being a c*** was accepted.
I wore a few.
