Sports Black Caps

My ODI side

1 Conway
2 Ravindra (all rounder)
3 Living Legend and greatest NZ batsman of all time
4 Will Young
5 Tom Latham (Captain rather than Kane)
6 Mitchell (All rounder - just bowls death overs and Henry bowls out by 35th over))
7 Neesham (Will not bowl) In the team as the batting finisher
8 Santner
9 Henry
10 Fergp
11 Southee

In squad Ashok Phillips

My NZ ATG Test Side

1 Turner
2 Wrighty - Richardson averaged more but Wright did it against harder attacks
3 Kane
4 Crowe
5 Rossco
6 Sutcliffe
7 D Vettori
8 Hadleei
9 Ian Smith (Keeper)
10 Tim Southee
11 Trent Boult

Sorry Jack Cowie and Donnelly etc

The only problem with my side is that there is no realistic 5th bowling option. Kane has a suspect action and so maybe Martin needs to bowl five overs of rubbish slow medium each day

Current test match team assuming no Boult

1 Latham
2 Conway
3 Kane
4 Rachin (all rounder)
5 Will Young
6 Mitchell (all rounder)
7 Blundell
8 Henry
9 Southee
10 Fergo is good at 4 day cricket
11 Ashok (Best spinner in the country so he plays)

I would go.....

1 D Conway
2 R Ravindra
3 K Williamson
4 D Mitchell
5 G Phillips
6 D Bracewell
7 J Clarkson
8 M Santner
9 M Henry
10 T Southee
11 W O'Rourke

I think selectors got it wrong picking Will Young to replace Clarkson, Bracewell is on fire! I would hope he plays against Australia. He's averaging 42 at a strike rate of 212 🤯

Good choice, I'd bat Rocco at 3 too.

Over rated plunket shield players XI

1 Troy Johnson
2 Dean Foxcroft
3 Sean Solia
4 Tom Bruce captain
5 Dale Phillips vice captain
6 Katene Clarke
7 Max Chu Keeper
8 Brett Hampton
9 Jacob Duffy
10 Ish Sodhi when he plays plunket
11 Luke Georgenson (he is actually a batter but I needed an 11th person)

Under rated Plunket shield players XI

1 Henry Cooper captain
2 Greg Hay
3 Nick Kelly
4 M Abbass
5 Cole McConchie
6 Cleaver keeper
7 Nathan Smith
8 Tickner
9 Michael Rae
10 Fraser Sheat
11 Ben Sears

Here's is footage of Ben Sears carving up in domestix. Too much pace for Plunket shield batsman.

My pace attack in Aussie this year would be Southee Sears Ferguson and go at them on their bouncy tracks

sorry false alarm

New Zealand could be poised to play a four-test series for the first time this century against Australia in the 2026-27 summer.

Ah ok. I wouldn't play Ferguson in any test matches. Can't get through the work load. He struggles to maintain his pace in his second spell in One dayers

Zackary Foulkes looks pretty good also.

I don't mind Foxcroft and Robinson in the T20 format only at this stage.

In his only test at Perth he broke down in one session sadly and from that point he's only been considered a short form cricketer. Hopefully Jamieson can get fit again, but his injury run has been terrible.

Did get Warner out though with sheer pace if I recall correctly. Chopped on?

Fergo is gutted about that test. He said afterwards he bowled too fast and should have bowled more conservatively.

Is Doug Bracewell's black cap career done and dusted. Been playing as a batsman lately while he recovers from injury.

That's what he was there for though, to bowl fast. I think t20 and OD if he can maintain his pace for all 10 overs.

Even Dale Steyn would mainly bowl 135kms and only blast at 150kms in one of his afternoon spells if he had his tail up.
The Aussie attack too, all of them can bowl 145kms plus but they can't sustain it and operate just below 140kms

If fergo ever got another go he would have to pick his moments

At the highest level, even extreme pace is cannon-fodder unless you can move the ball. Milne and Ferguson don't, they would be one-dimensional in test cricket. This is what made Bond a freak.

Steyn's main weapons were movement and accuracy. Bowling at a good clip made him world class.

Starc swings the ball. Hazelwood and Cummins hit the seam. Hazelwood is metronomic and relentless, Cummins bowls a heavy ball. Ferguson can't replicate what they offer.

The most "Australian" type of bowler we have is Jamieson, who is just quick enough.
