A great game to sign off SJ!!!! Well done, I'll miss you mate! I'm with the commentators. Let him retire after round 1, 2025.

AFB, what a player you have been. Truly elite. Jazz, thanks for the blood.

CNK is a very good centre.

Looks like Metcalf can strike a field goal, which is encouraging.

Fun game. See you guys in Vegas.

Tonight probably showed a bit of what could have been. Johnson was out a lot with injuries. The teams form and confidence fell during the season which would have been hard to execute.

His combination with Metcalf looked exciting the last few weeks. tonight looked like what could have been.

Again what could have been as Metcalf was out most of the season.

The decision to retire looks to be the right one. Better to go out on a high. After the season we have this is probably the best send off he could have. Wound the clock back. Better to go out like this instead of pushing on.

Shaun doing things only Shaun can to win it for us. Mr Clutch.

Happy the team and especially the departing players got the win. Seems like a lot of camaraderie for all the chat about AFB not liking SJ etc lol

A+ because it was a good win. We had lots of mistakes and mistackles, but not many would have thought we would win that to begin with nor at half time.

Farewell SJ. Enjoy retirement. Farewell AFB. Farewell Jazz. All 3 will be missed.

But a great way for Sj to finish
Firing a cutout pass in the last 30 secs for Dall to score
Sj played great
We won great way for him to finish

Fox showed a lot of after match stuff
Including the sharks kiwis and the warriors kiwis doing a haka for Sj
Enjoyed that

Thanks Sj for a great career and giving me a lot of joy.

And AFB Jazz and Bunty

AFB for me our player of the year

Taine at fullback Charnze at centre......this is the way.

Good end a disappointing season and once again stuffing one up the Sharks on their turf.....always a thing of beauty.

While certain aspects of Jazz could be frustrating he was always the one guy you could never doubt for effort......much appreciated Junkyard dog.

And im quite comfortable stating Addin as the number 1 all time Warriors prop.....had the Steve Price metres as well as the ability to initiate ruck speed. and a strike weapon close to the line...... going to miss that little shimmy and late footwork and surge at the line.....going to doubly suck seeing him do that for the Sharks.

Have said enough about SJ in the SJ thread but i think 2nite was a perfect example of the clutch gene people have been talking about. First and foremost u have to want to be the dude with the ball in his hands at those times......Shaun has always wanted to be that guy, poor old Chanel i dont think truly wanted that responsibilty.

Was a thread somewhere earlier this week with someone asking what a game manager is.......i know he hasnt done it nowhere near enough this season but that 2nd half performance by SJ was the best example of that we've probably had this year.. Had his fingerprints on everything, was taking the right options and dictating the games tempo and flow......thats the challenge for all our halves next season....its a big ask i think on what we have available......was happy to see him wind back the clock and go out in this fashion.

Well played sir, thanks for the memories.......Masters Touch is calling.....have a Bay of Plenty team down here with a spot open for ya

Ah, what a send off for Shaun. You really couldn’t have scripted it more perfectly. Down 4-22. Against all odds, . I was sure the game was over after Cronulla's last-minute try to lead 26-28 with just 2 minutes left. But Shaun seized the moment, the final play of his career to set up DWZ in the corner. Unbelievable. It’s the kind of story movies are made of. What a send off. So happy for him and the boys. After such a long season, this is the way to end it. It gives me hope for 2025. CNK at center with Ali. Tuapiki a threat all night at FB. Metcalf’s bullet skip pass was a beauty for Montoya to score. DWZ’s milk play, drawing that penalty and send off was a game-changer. Montoya was strong, Lussick at Prop 🤔. Everyone played well. Take a good break, boys, and come back bigger, stronger and better next season.

A heartfelt thank you to the dearly departed – Walker (?), Jazz, and AFB. Thank you for your service.

Great weekend of footy. Broncos flogged. Bulldogs lose. Warriors come from behind clutch Johnson play to win it and end on a high. Marvellous

Found that a bit of an emotional watch last night. Couldn’t be happier for the great man to win it like that - reminded me a bit of the great RJ Hadlee taking a wicket with his final ball in test cricket (showing my age).

A season of what ifs - clearly SJ was hampered by injuries all season, but he mentioned how much better he felt getting to a 3rd game in a row. Linked really well with Taine - in my opinion the fullback debate is over, he’s everything that RTS will never be & CNK looked good at centre.

But last night was all about SJ, and he got the perfect send off. Absolute legend.

Fantastic and incredibly bittersweet game to finish the year. Congratulations to all the boys for that one and getting it done especially for SJ but also to finish the season on a high and give some confidence for next year.

We aren't a 13th place team. Were we a top 8 team this year? No, not quite, but we have showed on a few occasions we could compete with the contenders. It has been hard to know why we didnt quite reach the heights of the top 8 this year but I genuinely believe injuries and changing of combinations has been a big reason, losing those 2 early games, some refereeing decisions influencing some of the close games, but whatever it has been it just is what it is. I often like the quote that applies to the NRL which says - you are never going quite as good as you think you are and you never going quite as bad as you think you are, and I think that is apt for this year.

On the game though - SJ fantastic, and congratulations on your career. That was just a great way to finish. We will miss Addin but am looking forward to having JFH here. Metcalf showed some nice glimpses too and showed we missed that combo of SJ and him this year.

We showed some character to get up for this game and that is a statement in my eyes for Andrew Webster as well. As surely if the boys didnt respect him or each other they wouldve just packed it in for the season, so was great to see some fight there. He has a bit to work with for next year and some interesting calls to make in regards to positions and the make up of the side, but I will look forward to 25 and hope the fans continue to pack out MSS as the future of the club is bright.

Lastly, glad it was done to the Sharkies, can't stand them. Hope they get bundled out in the finals.

Thoughts from the highlights;

1. Sifakula was actually really busy on D for a long period of time. Was scrambling on all Sharks breaks.

2. Lussick was getting shredded on defense.

3. Walker see above.

4. Marata was horrific from start to finish. If he had put in 100% on D, we would have stopped at least 3 Sharkies tries.

5. Game looked good when we got the 50/50 calls.

6. Ali is an absolute animal. If he can elevate his defence we could be looking at a new Toopi. His natural ability to beat a defender through power moves is amazing. Can drop a shoulder then switch ball arms to fend in an instant.

7. Metcalf is hopefully going to be great for us. Short and long passing, kicking, trying the 2pt field goal.
