I have always liked Rocco. He starts his FG career and seems to get over 90% tackle efficiency every year. He does the 1 percenters and has a good partnership with DWZ. He also seems to be a really well liked member of the team.

His main issue is that he needs to actually stay on the field and start to offer more with ball in hand. Webster will always likely pick him as he has a defence first mentality(Not complaining about this lol). I would just like to see more from him as I suspect he has it in him.

I like Ali and think he has a massive upside. But I feel so many people have automatically picked him and say he's an automatic inclusion. He's got such a higher upside, but at this point in his career is he an automatic selection over Rocco?

I don't think he's shown enough imo. We've seen that when Rocco is fit and the team plays well, he offers exactly what the coach wants and does it well.

Ali has struggled with meters and defence at times(so has Berry), but with Berry being older, and having runs on the board I think if it came down to it at this stage where we're trying to sort our attack out moving towards the finals, I think Rocco offers a bit more than the odd moment of brilliance.

Fwiw, I'd have Ali at left centre over Pompey, with Rocco on the right
Is a team struggling for points i think he is automatic yes.

Berry’s been a locked in starter for the last two seasons when fit and I would think that will continue this year.

A big part of Webby’s game plan is to get the opposition starting their sets in a corner of their on 20 and struggling to work the ball into good field position. Berry excels in that area and it was very noticeable the difference against the Raiders.

His injuries are a concern but he’s got the makings of a very good centre if he can stay on the park long enough to be able to put it all together.

I think with Ali shifted to the left before, Berry's probably Webby's No.1 right centre selection

And with our mentality been defense first, and Pompey playing out of his skin most games, and I think most conceded tries are not coming from his end (think of the weekend game), he probably keeps that spot.

Someone said Ali rushed out of the line causing Raider's first try with 1 man down? It's probably a bit of a mortal blow to his pecking order. Did he shift the ball to Dallin to run into touch too? 🤣 These type of plays and the 1% really is the cornerstone to our game plans of building pressure, even if our 2nd half attack sucks (I think an easy quick fix is play Leka exclusive in the 2nd half), say if we had no brain farts on D and kept it at 8:0 at HT it would have been a totally different game and we could be taking 2s in the rain to build a 12 point lead and force them to make mistakes.

Very unfortunate Ali wasn't able to replicate that, even Capewell was doing great pinning the opposition wingers in their own 20m when he was playing centre.

Might be a bit harsh too, but I thought Ali held onto the ball too long when he tried to beat his defender before passing to Dallin (when he ended up throwing the ball back I field). I feel that Berry would have given early ball and then be able to back up for that ball back from DWZ. They both seem to have a good understanding of what the others trying to do

That's the chemistry eh, Ali was doing well with TT who would probably have cut back and we might end up with a quick PTB closer to the line.

It is such a difficult conundrum with Ali. He needs time in FG to learn, muscle up and react in high pressure situations under fatigue that he wouldn't get in NSW Cup. He could be very special.

However, Berry and Pompey are the better fit for now.

Does Webby invest or select for the here and now? It is a 50/50 really, and I'd hate to be making the choice.

If I was Perth I would be sniffing around Ali big time.

An article I’ve seen about who Perth should target mentions Berry
