An anyone explain how ref appointments are made

We have Gough in R1&R4 and now Kennedy in R3&R5

One would think that the appointment panel would ensure that the refs rotate around the clubs
A one stage they were running with a system where the refs were ranked on ability & the guy deemed to be the top would referee the game that had the lowest combined placings on the ladder.
Ie. 2nd playing 4th = 6 so would get the top referee unless another match that round was 1st vs 3rd (4).
That said, the lowest combined ladder position match this week is Dolphins vs Tigers & Gerard Sutton is the ref. Seeing as he neither reffed Origin or the GF in 2023 I might have just wasted a whole lot of words describing an outdated system 🤷‍♂️

Despite me saying Laban is unlikely I have all ten toes and fingers crossed he does play as without him our bench will be the weakest out of all 16 teams that line up this weekend. It will also be probably the worst bench I have ever seen in my 6 years supporting the club. Even SK and Brown and Peyton picked better benches.

Would you really have Kosi starting ahead of at least 9 first grade regular Wingers? I can't think of any full strength lineups where he'd be a first choice
Prefer Kosi to Tommy Talou off the top of my head, and also the 2nd best winger for some of the lower ranked teams is not too flash.

I don't love him. I just posted I had him ranked 25th amongst all starting NRL wingers. Hardly a glowing endorsement. Just that Pompey has no corner-finishing-skills. He doesn't know how to dive one handed for the corner like every other winger in the competition can. I just I rate Kosi above Pompey at wing.

Yeah I know you don’t love him love him

But if Webby wants more then Webby needs to see more from him…+ Pomp’s can kick

Just trust in the master Webster bro he has us👌.

One proper prop on the bench and three physically small players. Also even putting size aside, having Lussick and CHT together is an overlap in roles.
Lussick will likely drop out with Laban coming in. We have two proper props on the bench... Ale is still 6 foot and 109kg (and killed it in Cup last week to go with his good showings in the trials), alongside Bunty at 6 foot 2 and 113kg. Which leaves CHT as hooker / backs cover and Jazz as forwards cover / an extra middle.

It isn't the biggest bench, will give you that, but we have had far worse players on our bench in the past...

Not quite Bunty is starting and not on the bench last I checked the team sheet
