I read somewhere it's the first Kiwis A side for something like 15 or 17 yearsI don't recall this happening with the Kiwis in other tournaments, will be interesting to see how this works out.
Yeah and they play the prime ministers 13 against PNG - pretty much their A teamDon't think they even need to. They get three Origin camps a year that give them a massive head start on us in rep football.

I think it's Makahesi Makatoa from the EelsWho's the Cook Islander pictured in the squad list
I thought against a pretty weak (on paper) Tongan A side, it was a pretty good selection. He would probably get a short stint off the bench, and wouldn't have too many eyes on him in the early game.Way too soon
Anyone know if the games will be on the radio?
The big point of difference they have is that every player in the lineup is a regular NRL starter and they don't have to dip into reserve grade to fill the gaps.Australia has named their side.
Can’t say it’s the best kangaroos side Ive ever seen- never seen a bad one though tbf and they’ll still be the team to beat.

It's been said before but I really think taking the Samoa test to Eden Park is a stupid idea.
Given that they're unlikely to get more than 25k, why not play it at Mt Smart? A half empty Eden Park is going to be nowhere near the same atmosphere.
I'm still going, but don't know why the Kiwis seem to have EP as their home ground now. Bizarre from the NZRL.
Who was the lucky NSWRL board member?
Surely Madge can do both NSW and Kiwis job.NRL talent named as part of New Zealand Kiwis 'A' squad
Eight NRL rookies are among the 15 players named on Monday to be part of the New Zealand Kiwis 'A' squad, which will play Tonga 'A' on October 21 at Eden Park in Auckland.www.nrl.com
