Here's some food for thought.

Metcalf - 6, Boyd - 7.

One goes down, who's injury impacts us more?

Now reverse the roles.

Same question.

So many questions to be answered when the prodigal child gets back.
I thought some of the footage that looked like it could be for one of the league was a hard case involving CHT, Metcalf and Halasima. Some questions were brutal and one was about Metcalf being Webster’s favourite that they laughed about, then CHT said Metcalf is Webby’s son

Yeah, for sure I could see they have a close relationship.

This is a results driven business though, so we'll have to see what relationships factor into what decisions.

Would be unprofessional for it to have a bearing and don’t think it will, what’s best for the team should be coach and players main priority and believe it is with everything I’ve seen

Coaches are footy nerds, Metcalf and Boyd are footy nerds that watch all the games.

It's an easy relationship.

Just a bit of banter with the players I think. Halasima was funny when they said how many times has he watched the knights game winner, he said about 10 and then said if it’s on in front of him he watches it. His try scoring celebration looks like he’s playing down his impact

What does that say about the systems Webby has in place where someone can come in and fit seamlessly into the structure without the team skipping a beat. I think the key is simplifying roles so everyone knows their job.

Very Bellamy/Storm like isnt it.
Getting harder and harder to resist the pull of the darkside of smugness if I am honest.

You could see what Webster was doing from the beginning.

Arc of Jackson Fords patient transition to Prop forward is the microcosm of the Macro transformation of the club: Resilience, fitness, discipline, defence, territory mobility and leg speed at ruck.

When Webster took over he went on about no more excuses, about resilience. That was his first goal. And it has taken him a few seasons to lock that in, but we are now a club that uses no excuses (first time ever).

Webster is a very patient man, very deliberate, very self assured.

Webster ignored all the calls for Jackson Ford to play less minutes. I said time and again he was building him for eighty and that people need to believe in the brocess (oops slipped into smugness again).

But Webster was absolutely right about Ford in the exact same way he knows he is right about the path of the Warriors - we are exactly where Webster planned from the beginning - leading the NRL in the fundamentals of the code.

Bit of an unsung hero, but the work of Cappy can't go understated either as HOF.

We are identifying the right guys, letting the right ones go.

Next step in the evolution is to be able to unearth young wingers and centres that can hit the ground running in FG on base contracts. Helps you keep all young gun nucleus together.

Egan going under the radar too a bit I reckon with Boyd and Ford picking up accolades. Egan for his service, but his leadership has really come to the fore I reckon. When the cameras were in the sheds I was really interested watching him personally going around players and got to Tuaupiki obviously congratulating him on some great moments

Can't remember which player was being discussed by Webster when he said "Andrew McFadden found him" I imagine they let Cappy have free reign after endless proof he is the moneyball difference maker at the Warriors.

Thought it was pretty funny last week Ennis couldn't understand the fact that Egan wasn't running. But Egan was content just stepping out and isolating defenders bringing forwards through the front door. Ended up being one of the main reasons Canberra folded at the back end.

Hes definitely one of the craftiest in the league, hopefully he doesn't get too busted up this season and we see him firing at the back end.

He’s picking his moments superbly I reckon and used to think he got a bit predictable that he would have a snipe close to the line. His service has been really strong too and defensively strong

Wrighty's review - 7 observations this week.

1) Is it a bird, it is a plane? No in an even rarer sight than spotting Superman I spotted Ali doing one percenters in this game. At first I shook my head and dismissed it but it kept happening throughout the game. Decoy runs, useful cover defence, generally scrambling around. He just might have a future in the NRL. We all know he can score tries but he looked like a 360 degree player in this match. Let's see if he can do it again next week before I conclude he has turned over a new leaf.
2) Jackson Ford has conceded one penalty and 3 six again offences over the first 3 games. What remarkable discipline given the volume of minutes he has played.
3) Our edge defence has improved. I am not going to say how on the open Internet as I don't want to give the Warriors IP to opposition analysts.
4) Well done to Wizards and all the posters who had the Kahuna's to say we would comfortably beat the Knights. You were right !! And perhaps Wizards was right about the reason they didn't chance Sharpe. Maybe they figured the Warriors of 2026 were too good for him to make a difference. Certainly in past years star players miraculously recovered just in time to play the Warriors.
5) My complaint about the match is that after Trey Mooney took a run at Tannah Boyd we got into handbags with them. That was not enough of a reaction from the Warriors enforcers as far as I am concerned. If you watch the replay Mooney really tried a cheap shot take out hit on Boyd that could have knocked him unconscious as he aimed to nail him with an illegal shoulder charge. We should have thrown hands/fists at Mooney for that and taken a suspension ourselves. We need to draw a line in the sand and protect our halves from people taking runs at them. Who cares if you get banned for a game. As coach I would be addressing this behind closed doors. NO ONE should get away with taking a run at Boyd or Metcalf or CHT period.
6) The next observation is just my take. So cool your jets if you watched the game and simply didn't see this. You are allowed to have your view, I am just typing up my view. Feel free to ignore therefore. The warriors in 2026 have radically changed their tackle technique. In past years circa 2020 and 2021 and 2019 we used to do big hits. And bone crunching tackles. And sometimes we would tackle someone and frogmarch them 10 metres back. These big hits didn't really get us anywhere as we would finish 10th or 14th overall in the standings but in all likelihood we were the biggest bone jarring tackling team in the league. For whatever that was worth. In this game vs the Knights it really looked like we just wanted to bring the Knight player safely to the ground rather than splitting him in two with a big hit. We almost carefully and almost gently were wrestling the opposition to the ground. However we were also surgical about it as we left the tackled player invariably on his back so he absolutely couldn't do a quick PTB. 2026 more effective tackling but less spectacular.
7) Tannah Boyd is second only to Cleary on form for halfbacks in the NRL at the moment.

Not a bad post for someone who just started following rugby league

Three games in a row he has had a rest. If he is playing 60 minutes a game versus the 80 he was last season, maybe we have learnt our lesson there. You have to make the finals to challenge for the title, that's obvious. What may be less obvious is a subtle change from aiming to make the 8 to how do we give ourselves the best chance when we get there. Resting Egan for 20 minutes a game is one of them.

The biggest change with Egan happened at the beginning of 25 when he was taught to get his head behind the attacking players when making a tackle
Since then his head knocks have reduced considerably
