Team List NZ Warriors v Melbourne Storm - [Round 6, 2026]

What was our settled halves pairing after 3 games though?
Boyd & CHT?
Boyd & CNK?
Boyd & Hanson?

Who was settled at left edge Second Row after 3 games?
Capewell, Halasima, Gannon or Laban?

We've had issues of unavailability all season
Boyd and CHT have had a number of games together, same for Boyd and Hanson. Boyd and Metcalf have never played together previously I believe. The outlier is the Boyd/CNK early game change but essentially Boyd just ran the whole show in that game.

Boyd & CHT, had lost 3 of their last 4 games together before CHT got knocked out early against the Raiders.
Boyd & Hanson had 1 NRL game together after Rd 3 & Hanson had never started a game alongside Egan or with Leka as his Centre before then.
I personally would have brought CHT back at the first available opportunity but my point is that Webster didn't break up any longstanding or successful NRL combos in Rds 4 & 5

Doesn't mean much tbf, NSW Cup sides add players 1 hour out every week.
I know many think storm couldn’t give a shit on our team selection, and they may not but I like that there’s some question marks for them to be preparing for us. Certainly Pompey won’t be playing but question marks over CNK and Egan’s availability means any of those players could have a role come game day

Our backline has been destroyed by the sharks and tigers. They don’t deserve another chance against the storm. The defence by Charnze the last 2 games is inexcusable, while offering nothing on attack either. Pompey on the side offering nothing as well, running 70 metres each of those games
Quite obvious - the whole 3/4line lacks speed. Disastrous in this competition.

Just saw Egan at Les Mills - should've asked if he's right for this weekend but the fact that he's been in the gym is surely a good sign, right?

Depends on if he's doing mum's class or red bull leg day

They haven’t named any other hookers than Healy so you’d assume he’s fine

CHT can play hooker and Hansen's in the reserves can't rule it out I guess. Take that Bellamy, art of the war by Web Tzu

Would this backline make us cry?

Eesh... makes me cry lol.

Now that Pomps is out surely that means our one fg centre in Ali has to come back in.

Not a big fan of moving RTS to centre. He wasnt great there, but I guess if youre having to move someone else there, the other obvious players atm in CNK and Leka haven't been great there either, so fooked if I know...

It's also getting to the point where it feels to me that with Taine named at fb and starting, due to the issues regarding him being so small, opposition are able to plan for him and he generally seems to be covered quite well. When there are injuries or a shuffle and he gets on, that seems to be when he performs best. I think id be starting CNK there for the next few weeks.

For me:
CNK
Roger
Leka/EIT
Ali
DWZ

Wasn't making an argument based on results, more time together to be considered settled. Boyd and CHT have had a number of games together last year and 1 this year plus off season training. Boyd and Hansen have played cup together.

Boyd and Metcalf have had nothing prior to the last two games.

So if we are talking settled halves pairing you would have to go with Boyd and CHT fitting that description the most given end of last season together, off season training and first up game this season - and should have only missed the round 2 and 3 game really

How long do you keep Metcalf out for though?

Maybe the timing was wrong. Maybe it wrecked the flow. But eventually the pairing was always going to be Metcalf/Boyd right. Before Round 1 I bet 90% would have picked Metcalf/CHT if we assumed all 3 were fit to go.

Cup for a month to be able to physically play a few games without pulling a muscle, then supersub on the bench until a half get injured. They probably won't do that though, and repeat a Berry where he plays 1-2 games then gets injured repeatedly by jogging and death spiral towards career ending
