With an aging , sluggish backline , Taine is essential as offers an attacking option that CNK doesn’t process .
It’s a hard thing for Webby to do ( player loyalty) but I believe AKP needs to come into the side.
I hear you bro but without a back 3 that's generates big metres from the back our game plan falls to bits!
Taine doesn't generate enough metres and RTS is not consistently generating the metres consistently. If you have a back 3 of TT and AKP we lack the metres and punch we need from the back. If we want AKP for RTS, we have to have CNK at the back.

To follow up with what i posted just before, if you wanted some cure all or scape goat. Then i guess it'd be to drop anyone who is six for CHT, and move CNK back to fullback or the bench. Our error rate to score currenly has a insane correlation value of `-0.981`. So weirdly with that change we should save 1.5 errors and therefore gain +9 points per game.
You can plug in Points = -4.56 × Errors + 77.7 and it gets within 1 of every game we've played this year.
gotta be careful of the ol' correlation / causation business - sure the stats prove a point, but only as much as the stats describe a poor performance - in the last couple of games it's the 'eye-test' which wins out - cnk is not a good enough centre especially in defence, and we're also not generating enough metres from the back ... tbh, I've had it with cnk - even as our fullback - we're not getting enough from him - in the line is a different question, and taine offers more there so that basis alone i think he should run out as our fullback from now on ... the halves are a system problem, in our 5 games this year we went from the on the ball with a conservative play style to a split halves to accomodate LM and it just hasn't worked, probably be cuase luke isn't game fit ... diiferent feel but same conclusion : we need CHT back, and what the hell do we do in the centres? fucked if i know

Great stats analysis. I dont have much time to go over the numbers anymore, so I appreciate the summaries.

They certainly start to paint a picture.

The other thing to consider is how poor individual positional play impacts the team over an entire season. More wear and tear for everyone, every game... it all adds up.

Oh i was just showing off the insane correlation value of -0.981. Which is unheard of in sports normally. Of course you need more data points to prove anything like that. But the eye-test does kinda prove the same point. People are watching the impact these errors are having on the larger team and are asking for these players to be axed. I.E CNK and RTS. The two front runners for increases in error rate. Coupled with a guy who has come in to replace a player who has yet to even cause an error (metcalf).

Un no they haven’t?
Springboks yes they are on a massive run at the moment with 7 out of the last 10.
France have won 3 out of the last 10, we have won the last 3 in a row
England have won 2 out of the last 10
Ireland 4 out of the last 10 and have lost the last 3 against us.
The anecdote about HB family is an outlier, most friends and family I have there watch both
I watch and back both too and always have. Perhaps that's all I should have said.

I wonder sometimes how much it is reading the play for Ali and Dallin to get a few intercepts or whether due to defensive issues they are just hanging around in the passing channel?
Would certainly be well beaten if the passes stuck.

Ease anyone who is long term injury prone or regularly underperforming from the books. Then spend a fortune on a real first grade full back, a couple of centres, and another Capewell like second rower.
With experienced people inside them the wings should look better in defence and definitely in attack. Imagine having a backline that could attack on both sides? And with Warbrick coming that will put the icing on the cake

Dallin’s being great all year except one knock on, he’s staying on the winger and saved a few tries yesterday by interception or taking out the centre when it opened up

So you think he's finally making defensive decisions on his own rather than hoping he'll get the word from inside or indeed, no word and he's left in mid air?

I believe it’s on his own unless there’s evidence Boyd, CNK, Laban or Marata managing to tell him to intercept or jam. If Cape was on the right then it’s more believable

Check his ear for wireless? 😂

Well that was a painful game to watch. The CNK to centre experiment is over. Time to start the CNK to NSW Cup experiment.

Our current halves issue is like an episode out of Formula 1: Drive To Survive. Metcalf & Boyd both want the 7 jersey & it’s impacting their games & the team overall.

Webby should’ve bought Metcalf back through NSW Cup to rebuild timing & match fitness. Webby also should’ve made it clear that Boyd is the 7 in first grade. Metcalf has to put the team first. He’s already got the upgraded contract. Time to earn it & do what’s best for the team. His injuries have also proven we need Boyd signed up for a longer contract. If we lose Boyd to another team we will really be in the lurch.

CHT will give some much needed stability while Metcalf is out injured. Hopefully that helps Boyd get back on track.

Our backline is just too slow to win a comp. We can have the best forward pack in the comp, but we won’t win it with our Dad’s Army backline.

Can I just add the fact that our forward pack needs to stand up and be counted better than the last 2 weeks.

Agree with the rest of your post

When Webster was asked about this in the press conference he said it was a try. He said Taine had fallen off the tackle. I thought the same.
Everything about it looked like a try, but I thought the letter of the law was TT only had to have a hand on him when the ball carrying arm was on the ground. But just saw the rule is the player must have hold of the attacker - even through in some situations they do call hold when the defender places a hand on an attacker on the ground
