NRL Round Discussion NRL Round 8, 2025 Discussion

Ivan all day!!! 4 trophies in a row He's royalty in terms of the Warrior's the door would always be open.
I agree. Got love for the riff. They've blessed other teams with superstar players and coaches. Even released our captain to us without drama. They've won 4 trophies and been the best team on the planet the past decade.

Even if they are on the decline. I refuse to put the boot in. Until they play us? Then all in! Lol

The McLean's are not spine players bro? Is that what you mean? - Or as players in general? If so - Casey is only 19. He definitely will be the answer one day. He still has his training wheels on
I'm that same sentence I also mentioned props, do yeah I know mcleans are not spine players.

They are young but I haven't seen anything from either though.

let's just have faith in webby that he knows how to handle the cows attack. It'll be a good game next week between two of the in-form teams in the comp with vastly different styles. It's going to be a 1-12 game either way. Anyone who thinks otherwise is dreaming.
Drinkwater was dreadful through most of the first half.
Once he came right and started linking with Dearden all he'll broke lose.
Going to be a good game.

The analysts keep going on about the cap ripping their team apart. Then mention JFH and Luai as the final key pieces they found hard to replace. Forgetting that JFH was under contract and they released him to us.

Like our some of our releases it was taking into account the players personal situation (JFH wishing to return to NZ) and also taking into account his long service to the club.

These two players likely had a big impact but also like Gould has mentioned other clubs have come and signed a lot of their players coming through.

It is amazing to see the extent of their struggles. Going from 4 time premiers to bottom of the table. How far they have fallen will need to wait until the end of the season.

It was great seeing a team developed and break up the usual big clubs that get all of the hype like Storm, Roosters etc.

There are some lessons for us in the development path. Teams coming in and signing our players beneath the first grade side. Development is our best option. Like Penrith it will take time, but it also does not equal or guarantee premierships. Penrith did have a special crop of players come through at the same time and more importantly a superstar half to guide the team around.

Cleary is still a good coach.

His time here he didn't have great squads. He would have made the finals every year unfortunately 2006 started on -4 points and 2009 a tragedy during the off season.

His time at the Tigers the recruitment was terrible. He probably needed someone like Gould taking care of the wider club strategy. Back at Penrith when he returned they had things in place a special bunch of players ready.

When they were 1-4 I wasn't too concerned as he had been there before with us in 2011. Things are a lot worse now.

Even if they got the spoon after 4 premierships I'd say his job is safe. They'd give him the opportunity to turn things around. Also ditching him would risk upsetting their superstar halfback.

I can't find it at the moment but I had an interesting article come up on my feed for the Broncos vs Bulldogs game.

The Broncos noticed Crighton after goal line drop outs would stay in the middle for too long instead of returning to his defensive position out wide. So, they would watch him after the goal line drop outs and shift the ball when they noticed he was stuck in field.

It would be great having more articles or commentary pointing these types of things out.
