NRL Round Discussion NRL Round 12, 2025 Discussion

Wouldn’t think so, but it would be the crime of the century if declined I reckon. They picking up an extra match fee so would imagine players are keen on that if not playing for their state

But they can say no, right?

I feel that any complaints about scheduling are stupid as

1) you actually don't know what players are being picked for origin year to year.
2) if the players prioritise origin over club footy, that's not really anyones problem other than the club and the player.
3)if clubs can talk players out of indigenous/country representation, with the intent of benefitting the club, they can do the same in this situation.

If the roosters hadnt screwed the pooch, we could have been staring at an outright #1 spot this week.

Rugby League is a funny game.
it was a bummer indeed. But it's just delaying the inevitable. I think we will overtake the dogs during the origin period at some pt, based on our draw vs theirs. Raiders also have a soft draw but if we win we have a 4 pt buffer over them. Think of that. 1st in NRL, 1st in 💙 Mighty NSW cup and 2 time reigning Harold Matthews champs. Feels more like 2011 than 2023.

Without one of their best attacking threats in Hammer as well. Bulldogs do have a lot of outs but partially their own fault through discipline.
all of their outs were in the forwards tho. Their spine was in tact for this game. I'd be a bit worried if I was the dogs at their lack of creativity. We whinge about our clunky attack- dogs had nothing other than Burton's bomb.

Said it yesterday when I thought they might have a loss, Crichton is really important to them. They’ve had some poor performances in wet, but I reckon Crichton changes them

Doggies forum reckons that Ciraldo provides all the answers at half time, when the doggies are down.

If this is true, it reeks of over coaching.

From what Webby says, he's more of a 'teach a man to fish' kind of coach, which boads well for us. The players need to make on the fly decisions every play.

It seems like we are able to reverse momentum mid half, which shows player initiative and self control.

dogs have first half issues. We have 2nd half issues. Going to be a wild game when we play them later in the year. Hopefully it is still 1st vs 2nd by then.

Are players contractually obligated to play origin?

No they are not. You can't contract someone to represent a country in sport if they don't want to and you certainly can't have this type of system of compulsion in a sport where there are arguments over player eligibility.

The right question is can they make you play if you do not want to.

Answer is obviously no.

Even if it were contracted, the NRL would avoid forcing someone to appear because that would be a circus that unravels their carefully crafted propaganda about the highest level of the game, mate vs mate bullshit.

So if someone said no, even if they were contracted, the coach of said state would say....we we aren't giving jerseys to people who don't appreciate them....'coz State or Orifice is the hoi'est form of the goime....

I know it’s an in popular time but Origin really needs to be at the end of the season with the rest of the rep calendar.
Got no love for the Dogs or their fans but can’t help but think the Phins got a bit of a reffing leg up this week after a week of crying foul in the media, the forward pass no try to make it 8-8 was a bit of a momentum shifter
Yeah - that option or just have some stand alone weekends where everyone gets a week off or something of that ilk. Broadcasters would never stand for that though unfortunately

It's weird how defensive you are about this.

Generally, it feels like a lot of your posts this year have been a bit criticism heavy. Webby making the wrong player selections, other players are better, and after wins the general feeling of your posts are quite negative focused. All that is on top of your tips, which have largely been against us.

I quite enjoy your knowledge of the game and often your view point too, but we're half way through the year and we're coming 2nd, and I dunno, it continues to be negative.

Stay chipper old fella, there's plenty of life left in the Wahs this year and it looks like it's going to be one of our better years - try to enjoy the ride!
That's what is weird for you? Your post seemed to be inferring something like you cant be a true warriors fan if you haven't tipped us or somehow think I want us to lose or something else? Your post was based on me not picking us 7 times this season, two times we got smashed, 4 times we won by the smallest of margins and the other we were backing up from Vegas which was a complete reversal of that game in the end despite a very unconvincing start. Hardly compelling stuff I would have thought. I do think its going to be another close game but based on no Barnett and Fish I think the Raiders will win it in the middle. I mean, feel free to post counter points or different takes on things if you want but yeah, there wasn't a lot of room left with the post you made other than to defend myself. What I find weird is that there is the facility here for you and others to post your own thoughts on the game or games, or a rebuttal to posts others have made and instead seem to prefer making a post like you did. Each to their own.

I know they probably want the Woman's SoO games to have clear air to promote them but there is a case for a stand alone weekend of rep games that would appease the broadcasters. Mens and Womans SoO stand alone games in different cities. Pacific championship test matches (though that could hurt Origin if eligible players for tests pulled out of the Origin teams)

There is no doubt that the origin period is a bit of a conundrum with byes, some teams affected more than others, players backing up etc.

It could be your man crush on Te Maire has seemingly clouded your ability to step back and actually enjoy that we're 8 - 2.
And that tone does permeate through your posts.

Don't blame you - Te Maire is a handsome bloke and a good player.

yeah, because I've been through 30 years of supporting this team not to enjoy our success.....

I actually think I'm probably one of the more consistent in my views compared to many on here, who could very well be bipolar!

Perhaps my views are perceived differently depending on our results?

God forbid someone has a different opinion. You don't need me to tell you but keep doing your thing, at least you have the balls to put your tips and reasoning out there publicly.
