I hope the NRL makes it so anyone can be used in the 6 man bench but keep the amount of interchanges the same.

Can't see the Eels getting anywhere near the 8 if their defense stays like this.
Hard to believe he came from the Storm the way he is defending.
So i guess the Kiwis can make a play for Jack Howarth now he no longer has to go default Aussie if he wants to play S.O.O? Bolster our centre stocks nicely.
Eels might be first team to have 50+ put on them this year.
Not that I want any player to be injured but if Grant is hopefully a round 7 return.
How about Leo aswell. Looked great in this game. Should only get better
I thought he looked good as well but would like to see him against a quality team. Eels are just bad ATM.

These first games of the year tell you a lot about the pre season, coaching and team culture. We all know that’s Bellamy’s super power. Question is when you’re the Eels coach, senior players etc where do you go in your head from here. What’s the chat? So much hype and prep and talk about being up for the game and then you come out and go to jelly. TBH Melbourne aren’t anywhere near their ruthless efficient best. Still plenty of early season rust from them on some plays but the Eels look shell shocked and bewildered to even be on the field. Bit for Ryles to work on this week

A loss like this normally leaves wounds deeper than the loss itself. Puts the coach in hot water, makes the team distrust the process and each other. I think webby is one of the few coaches who can rally a team after a loss like we had against the raiders last year. But not only is this even worse but i don't think rileys has earned that trust yet. And then to go from this to playing the broncos at home... Who will make this storm pack look tiny and hammer them through the middle... It's going to be hard to reverse that death spiral.

Having a pass go out on the full at the end seemed fitting for how the Eels played.
That 50 point curse holds so much weight.
The aftermath is that you're out into the category of 'never has it been done before'.
You have to wonder if it's like winning the premiership; the first one is the most difficult. (Unless you're the eels, go figure).
Eels won the preseason competition one week, destroyed the next.
Puts the relevance of preseason form and results into striking context.
