NRL NRL on Sky

I had an interview with Spark Sport and they had massive ambitions. The interviewer and I got chatting about league and he strongly implied they were going to make a run at the NRL rights when they were up for renewal.

Shame it never worked out for one reason or another. Competition would help keep Sky honest.

Did you get the job?

Sky have been an absolute shambles on the Vegas games.

5 mins late redoing the live broadcast (after not covering the super league or woman's match)

I can see Dazn selling or merging with Sky like they're about to Foxtel in the Aus.
I can see the rights ending up being consolidated into one region.

Sky is failing.

Watching NRL360 last night - Dan Ginnane was filling in for Gordon Tallis, not a bad change - and good ol'Mr Rugba League Peter Vlandys says league has a new competitor: FLA. It was so important that he mentioned it twice.
Wonder what AFL are going to do to combat their new competitor....
Also made a comment that in 2020 after shutting down the competition, the NRL was damn close to not being able to pay it's creditors and had no assets to impress banks with when asking for a loan.
Of course, someone would have stepped in alongside the broadasters to save us rugby league fans and organise a competition as there were still the teams - even without the Warriors, had they IMO stupidly voted no - and obviously still the market to watch those teams, but the NRL organisation could have gone bust...

Dan Ginnane was a refreshing change & it was interesting but sad to hear V'Landy's saying how close they were to going under financially after covid
That man is no sports fan which is a good thing imo - his job is to keep the NRL going & it nearly didn't. To think they were so close to hitting the wall was quite the wake-up call.

Weird times. A lot of businesses almost didn’t make it back then. It was scary looking ahead wondering if you will ever operate again.

The NRL has a great product and it has bounced back strongly.

Just got an email Sky Sport subscription is going up $5 pm. not a lot I know but ffs get your act together Sky. You are not meeting the customers' needs re NRL . not sure about other sports I don't watch them
Had the same thing
Told them I am considering going.
What is my best option.
I watch races and nrl mainly
Any idea

This is one of their bigger price jumps. Usually it is quite sneaky with a small $2 so it looks more tolerable. Like the other this one you get the sell on the great product. Even though they have been losing some content or probably not even bidding for some.

Usually with the base subscription they say we are adding this channel.................................................................................unfortunatley this channel, plus this one will no longer be available.

I've heard of people before saying they will leave and end up with some of the deals new customers get. Hopefully the come back and give you x amount of months on the current price or something. Each upgrade would get a few close to thinking Sky is now longer worth it or the cost is too much.

It is better to sign up and get the free months or x amount of free movies instead of being a long term customer.

Thats exactly it - call the number and say you're wishing to cancel (ask for the retention reps) so unless you get a deal you'll cancel.

This give you a discount for 6 months.
