Dogs are also bottom of the table this year. But yeah of course you have to treat them with respect, there is no easy game in the NRL (unless its against the dragons, of which we still have our 2 games against them to go!).
I actually think the phins can be a top 4 team and are a much better roster than Manly. The Phins of the last 2 weeks probably belt Manly if they played again. Manly just got them on their worst day.
I think we win this by making into a dog fight. They will fall apart in the final third if we apply enough pressure. Manly have one of the weaker middles in the comp and they still proved too physical for their forwards yesterday. What we don't want to do is oblige them in a game of touch footy where their speed and offloads become an issue. That's why we've lost to them the last 2 times and kind of what we happened in the first half of our phins game. The moment we started playing our style through the middle, we overpowered the phins and got them in the end. Eels won't be able to handle our physicality for 80 minutes, so we just have to be patient.
For all the talk of coaches under pressure, I wonder why the phins coach hasn't been mentioned yet. Phins have underperformed for the last 2 years under him with a roster that should compete for the 4 let alone the 8. They are probably fighting again just to make the 8 this year. Phins vs Melbourne next week is shaping up to be a crucial game for both teams. If it wasn't for the dragons, it might even have been a spoonbowl contender. Whoever loses that is probably odds on to miss the finals.
