Rabbits making a play for English international Robbie Mulhern. Perth have put a decent offer to Toby Rudolf apparently. Apparently also his preference is to stay in Sydney, he was linked to bulldogs a while back

I believe his brother started on a train and trial deal last year- ended up playing for the kangaroos… that was a crazy story really.
Kane Bradley played for storm against us in the trial last year, he’s a tall winger. Mason Teague was highly regarded coming through the panthers system but never went any further at dolphins. Looks like a few Wynnum seagulls players on a train and trial contract too, few handy players though likely as depth signings

NRL fines Roosters over 2024 salary cap breach, Storm for breaking team selection rules

The NRL has fined the Sydney Roosters over salary cap breaches from the 2025 season, while the Melbourne Storm have been whacked for breaking team selection protocols.

The Roosters have been fined for a minor salary cap breach while the Storm have also been sanctioned by the NRL for breaking team selection protocols.
The NRL announced on Thursday afternoon that the Roosters had overspent the supplementary list and training wage salary cap by $38,356 in 2024.

Clubs need at least six development players by June 30. They are paid $80,000 plus $5000 of private health insurance.

“While the breach is at the lower end of the scale, it is proposed that the club will be issued with a fine of $36,070,” the NRL said in a statement “(The fine) reflects the balance of the club’s supplementary list and training wage overspend when applied against an underspend with respect to its top 30 salary cap calculation in 2024.

“It is also proposed that the amount of $36,070 is applied to the club’s future supplementary list and training wage salary cap calculation.”

The Storm meanwhile have been also hit for with a minor offence after playing not following proper process around team selections “on at least two separate occasions in 2025, relating to a player who was on a training contract”.
Train and trial players earn $1200 per week. They will pocket $3000 per first grade game they play, however they’re ineligible to be picked in first grade until round 11 — unless they win NRL approval.

“It is proposed that the Melbourne Storm be issued with a fine of $25,000, half of which will be suspended for two years,” the NRL said. “Both clubs will have an extended opportunity to respond to the breach notices given the time of year.

BIG NEWS!!! From Code Sports

Four of the most prominent rugby league agents who look after the game’s biggest stars including Reece Walsh and Dylan Brown have been rocked with bans for up to 12 months and heavy fines.
Nash Dawson, Chris Orr, Mario Tartak and Matt Desira will spend months out of the game after the NRL made a formal determination on their punishments.

The NRL originally issued the quartet with show cause notices six months ago. They responded and asked for leniency which has not been forthcoming by the governing body.

The bans include;

Chris Orr suspended for six months and fined $10,000. Orr’s stable includes the likes of Brown, Mitch Barnett, Ryan Matterson, and Jason Taumalolo. The NRL said Orr breached the code of conduct “following a physical altercation with agent Nash Dawson following the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships in 2024. It was also alleged Orr failed to co-operate with the NRL Integrity Unit.”

Nash Dawson suspended for nine months and fined $15,000. Dawson looks after the likes of Walsh, Xavier Coates, Isaiah Iongi, Rob Toia and Ezra Mam. The NRL said Dawson was banned “following a physical altercation with agent Chris Orr following the Australian Secondary Schools Rugby League Championships in 2024. It was also alleged Dawson failed to co-operate with the NRL Integrity Unit.”

Mario Tartak suspended for 12 months and fined $25,000. Tartak’s stable includes Damien Cook, Haumole Olakau’atu, Josh Addo-Carr and Tallyn Da Silva. The NRL said Tartak “communicated with an underage player without a parent and/or legal guardian being present. It was also alleged that Tartak entered into a commercial arrangement with two NRL Clubs, in breach of the NRL Accredited Agent Scheme Rules.”

• Matt Desira suspended for 6 months and fined $10,000. Desira looks after Jayden Campbell, Greg Marzhew and Bronson Xerri. He is also Wests Tigers coach Benji Marshall’s agent. The NRL said his ban was because of “non-reporting and dishonesty following police charges and court proceedings which were brought against Desira.”

None of the agents had their bans or fines lessened after the NRL’s original sanctions.

They will face further punishment if they continue to operate and negotiate deals on behalf of their clients.

Meanwhile, Melbourne forward Shawn Blore has been hit with a breach notice.

Blore pleaded guilty to common assault relating to an incident in Sydney in July, 2024.

Blore will be given an extended opportunity to respond to the breach notice given the time of year.

Hearing you’ve got Keaon well done. You upped the offer. 5 year deal in the 1.1-1:15mil ballpark. Money was too good to refuse it seems. I won’t lie I am gutted but we couldn’t go above 950k. I personally don’t think he’s worth over 1mil but to land a big fish I get why you guys have done it!
