I always thought peak was around 28, at 28 your body can still do what it could do at 21 but you have 7 years more experience in your head.

I think each position almost has its own average age of where they hit their straps? Always anomaly’s but halves tend to peak close to where middles do in age I think? I’ve seen it said that the best outside backs should be ready to debut by 20?

Rabbitohs gun Keaon Koloamatangi’s manager has reportedly set a $900,000 asking price as the NSW star plans a shock switch to prop in 2027.

What are people’s thoughts on Koloamatangi asking 900k per season? These lot say overpriced but when I look at his numbers, ability to play majority of games most seasons, age, ability to play a host of positions and looking at someone like Niukore’s salary, I don’t think it’s bad at all? There’s a line in there about playing prop in 2027 at a new club that gives me the impression he’s on the move?

The Bennett factor will be strong in keeping him - Even Bennett allowing to do surgery later is a play to keep him but boosts his earning power.

Think the line at the bottom is telling, going to market because he hasn’t heard anything from souths. Perhaps before Bennett but with him heading there, they’ve made some real blunders like Lewis Dodd that he surely would have known of? Stems right back to letting Reynolds go. He’s on $700k currently and if Tino wants $1.5 million, I’d take Koloamatangi any day of the week at $900k

Anyone who listens to The Bye Round with James Graham might have tuned into his most recent with SMH chief league writer Micheal Chammas and the discussion around players off contract and able to negotiate with clubs for 2027. I thought it interesting his take on Spencer Leniu and how the schools are not quite sold on his place in the team, which made me wonder if he could be a target for Perth even those he is signed through to 2027.
He also thought Ponga will move, but not sure to which team or which code. He thought he had wasted his best years so any move will need to be to a competitive team.
I think Wahs would be a shout for Ponga if we missed on Koula - just not in his current salary which will be a sticking point for most teams.

Ponga’s talked about wanting a premiership before the end of his career and I agree that we could be a real shout here, especially with him speaking so passionately about Kiwis and feeling a connection recently. It got massive traction during the year but then deemed some sort of April fools prank? If there was a team to put a lid on it, that would be us with how discreet we seem to be?

NRL clubs are set to be put on notice and told they can no longer publicly declare interest in a player at a rival team unless the target is off contract.

Agree - He is a top 5 prop IMO. If we didn't have Barnett and JFH, I'd be banging the drum hard to pick him up.
