You wouldn't have the same territorial dominance with Drinky at the back. That's the trade off.

And while he'd undoubtedly make the attack a bit better, he'd also make the defence worse. Another trade off.

And it's not as easy as saying well we've got good forwards make them run more. The whole game plan of the Panthers/Webby model is big back 5 yardage and the FB often taking the 5th tackle carry so the middles can front load their energy into the kick chase in transition, then fast line speed and energy to dominate the ruck on the first 3 tackles to ensure our FB takes the ball in good field position.

Pair Drinky with the other new toy AKP and you'd require a pretty big shift in game model.
Same was said about having Taine at fullback yet we still dominated the stats. CNK gets a lot of yardage but he also takes a lot of hit ups.

Taine fits the profile of Webby ball much closer than Drinky imo.

In games they've played at FB (70 min+) Taine averages 175 metres to Drinkys 147. That's much less of a drop off from CNKs 195.

On a per game basis TT misses less tackles, credited with more try saves, makes a lot less errors, lags behind in try involvements and line break involvments which we'd all suspect.

If we go CNK + DWZ to Drinky + AKP, you've lost nearly a players worth of yardage. Which doesn't even factor in that more of their meterage is from line breaks, which means while the attack will look better, the trade off will likely have compounding consequences against teams that can happily get into the grind for long periods.

Edit: To clarify my position, i'm not adverse to a shift in our style of play, the games proven time and again there's more than one way to skin a cat. Just not sure if Webby will change just yet.

Assuming AKP is there. There are a number of variables to consider but from a direct swap of Drinkwater for CNK in this years team I think we win more games and more convincingly.

I like CNK and his willingness to take multiple hit ups but it's covering for his weaknesses and I'd prefer an attacking fullback that does less one out hit ups and instead creates more opportunities.

Its always the same type of argument for replacing someone when you have players who are stand outs in a particular stat.

CNK who is going to make his meters
The Beast who is going to start our sets off and make his meters
Michael Luck who is going to make his tackles
Nathan Friend who is going to make his tackles

Drinky won't put his body on the line like CNK, but I don’t know how much more of a battering Charnze can take and how sustainable his style of play is, so I'm 50/50.

I wonder if Peter Thiel knows about the Anticharnze?
